  1. How do you jack up your Type R?

I use rubber pinch pads to lift at the pinch weld jack points. I can lift the side of the car to do wheel rotations, or use the front half of the Summit ramps as a wheel crib when doing oil changes.
  2. Alignment for daily life

I was getting similar wear and had an alignment done. The as measured alignment was way out with a bunch of toe out front and rear. Presumably this was how the car shipped. I’m keeping an eye on it with the in spec alignment.
  3. Drive mode switch bezel

First of all, I want to thank Chilly613 for helping me out with a replacement. Second, after taking a closer look at my old one, it looks like its the same switch bezel as the Acura Integra (35730-3S5-A01). There are a couple tabs holding in the switches themselves an can pretty easily be...
  4. Drive mode switch bezel

Definitely cracked all the way through. About the only thing that would have touched it is a microfiber to 303 protectant on it.
  5. Drive mode switch bezel

Is anyone else seeing this switch bezel crack. Noticed it this week and no idea when it would have happened since I have mostly kept the car in one drive mode. Real annoyance is that its not just a bezel, but only available as the whole switch pack (35730-T60-C01). My thought is that the...
  6. Oil filter question

I am of the opinion (which maybe wrong of course) that the oil filter really only serves to filter out rocks. I'd much prefer a filter that gets slightly dirtier oil to the bearings knowing that the filter efficiency will increase as the filter plugs. The oil itself is designed to suspend the...
  7. OEM Alignment Tire Wear

Just following up. Had the car aligned and it had all sorts of toe out. The rear was on the edge of spec and the front had about 0.25 deg of toe out. Hopefully explains the weird tire wear!
  8. I regret putting on 18's.

Quite content with my 18’s. Purposely chose to run 235/40r18 for the daily wheels and keep the oems for autox.
  9. OEM Alignment Tire Wear

Well I posted on a Civic website in a Type R specific forum… I’m not trying to diagnose if I got a decent life out of my tires or not, so mileage is irrelevant. The way it’s setup as it sits is not working. I’m asking if that is normal with the factory alignment because Honda was chasing lap...
  10. OEM Alignment Tire Wear

How are the people with stock cars finding the alignment. Just wrapped up an oil change and noticed quite a bit of wear on the inside shoulders. Pretty even both sides and car drives straight. Car is daily’d but has not been on track yet. My only change is a swap to 18” wheels. Guessing I have...
  11. Over the air “audio update”

Just got a new one today. 77CA-0068-121
  12. Where are the FL5s?

I daily mine. Around here I’ve seen a couple FK8’s and one other FL5 on the roads. Last year I was at an autox that had 3 FL5’s other than mine.
  13. Disappointed with windshield

I hear a bunch of people complain about Honda paint being too thin or soft, but with this FL5 being my first JDM car, one of my biggest disappointments has been the windshield. Just over one year in and it looks terrible. Pits everywhere, thankfully no cracks or spiders yet, but it looks...
  14. Scan tool for EPB

Nope. That was what I’ve been using (with Carista adapter). It doesnt have the bidirectional capability for the EPB.
  15. Scan tool for EPB

Does anyone have recommendations for a tool to set the EPB to maintenance mode? I’m debating something like the Autel MD806 Pro, or whether I should go for a tablet like the MX808 or Icon T7. I would prefer something that doesnt require a phone app. I know there are work arounds by removing the...
  16. FL5 - peak boost - stock

Sounds about right. The ECU is targeting a torque value. If it only takes 20psi to reach the desired torque value that's all it will request from the turbo. The colder temps are likely the reason since the air is denser.
  17. Boost by gear

If you plot wheel torque as a function of vehicle speed you’ll get a thrust curve chart. Remember that the transmission, FD, and wheel size all act together to multiply torque. Well at some horsepower/torque level it becomes unmanageable for the tire and all it will do is spin. Boost by gear is...
  18. Break in Oil Analysis

I can confidently say that Honda is not using Castrol Edge as the OEM fill…no surprises…lol
  19. Your ideal 3 car garage

FL5 - while I personally think these would be more fun with a bonkers NA k24 revving to 9k and making something like 275hp, I really appreciate how well this car does a lot of tasks. J200 Land Cruiser - want something boring and unshakable when I need to haul or be offroad. Need a big lazy V8...
