Appreciate you and all your input always lol. I already have the CAD drawings of my plan cause Iβm sick of the crappy sounding exhaust from this car. Kinda similar to my plans. Iβm old I donβt like loud and drone lol Front pipe first though one thing at a time boys lol
Thank you for your insight and suggestion. I am working on front pipe right now next then continuing with hopefully a better sounding option than whats on the market. Agreed all exhausts sound like crap mostly on the FL5 LOL In my blog I said stop wasting money on exhaust systems it should be...
Completely Stock DE5 Testing
No codes found and more sound. Customer said more pops and bangs heard and feels quicker but could be the louder tone LOL
Videos of stock downpipe and stock exhaust vs SBX downpipe with stock exhaust.
Video 1 and 2 sbx video 3 stock
DE5 test car install went well besides one stud he left before it snapped LOL first video is OEM second video is SBX Downpipe he is going to do some revs later he is on his way out in his vet for a car show. Will post it later of the revs. Also the extra bung is for my backpressure sensor ignore it
He is going to make videos today of exhaust! funny i just told him to do that last night. Hard to find a stock car to test things on so its a perfect opportunity
Thanks, I am really trying to make something great that actually works! They are all hand made so going to be limited runs each time.
Right now a customer of mine has it on his STOCK DE5 testing it and he is going to the dyno on Tuesday night to compare stock vs with the downpipe and also...
Updates.....
Will have some data on Tuesday it looks like here is some updated pics. The prototype is not that pretty now cause we had to cut off the 3.5 inch elbow to put the 4 inch elbow on :) also I did not put the heat shield option on the protoype. I have an extra bung for the backpressure...
After a lot of fitment testing, flow testing, and going back and forth on designs, I decided to go back to my original plan for the SBX downpipe setup: Yes I know I change my mind a lot but its always for a better reason.
4" off the turbo β 4.5" GESI cat β 3.5" to 3" lower section.
The area...
Not a bad idea at all! The issue is Iβm not opening the catless stuff up to just anyone. Iβm definitely going to stay strict with that. Even though the EPA seems to be easing up a bit with the new admin, I still need to protect my business.
As of now...Myself and the fab shop looked at the outlet to front pipe to see what we can do and whats best. Looks like 2.87 and some change will be the opening. Its a normal 3 inch pipe at the bottom and that is what the ID comes to. This will allow it to match up any bigger and I will have to...
Im giving that option that company is actually in NY so makes it easy for me :) and agreed this downpipe isnt meant to be pretty I want it to perform no cheap coating options to make it all fancy. I rather have something that works.
awesome thanks for doing all the hard work for us with the specs haha appreciated and I will save those for references. Yes the bung is in the same location. Reverse engineered the OEM downpipe heat shield locations and bungs and changed it to this so in theory it should work but not guaranteed
Sorry for the delay and thank you for that info and link I will check it out.
Update on the progress. I sent it back to fab to adjust the specs they were smaller than my CAD specs I had. I did do my CAD for CAST elbows thats one issue because mandrel bends are totally different ballgame. I am...
nice catch and awesome specs you gave thank you!. The additional welded section on the catted version is there because the GESI body changes the transition geometry and packaging requirements compared to the straight pipe version. Mandrel bends are tough to do for this tight packaging thats why...
Just an update. I changed the packages to include the titanium upgraded studs. Rampage Fab premium titanium studs in Burnt. 7 of them will be included with each downpipe for upper and lower flange
I actually looked into that LOL so not a bad idea there is a good place upstate that does is. Issue is I would have to ship to them ship back etc.....Downpipe is already expensive but I guess its optional so people can choose
