The assumption that the ITS will be more plentiful than FL5 because it's made in USA is incorrect.

The ITS shares majority of its components with the FL5 which they cannot make enough of the required parts to service the demand.

TLX doesn't share any major components with another high demand Honda product. So they can pump that out if they want.

If you assume Honda is limited in its ability to product FL5 parts, you can assume regardless how well the ITS sells they won't be able to make enough quickly.

I guess it comes down to if you believe the FL5 production is limited at will or limited by production.
It can only be at will… if not, they would not put a badge number, say its limited and obviously they would not have been able to create the ITS to begin with… if FL5 capacity is reached because of parts, then how can you build ITS… its mostly the same mecanical parts… well we’ll see… but Acura never said it was going to be limited… Honda has always said that…

Can be 100% for sure. Is it, we will find out.

Acura hasn't said anything about production, being silent doesn't mean it's one way or another.

They will mostly provide more production insights at pricing launch etc. But assuming it's NOT limited because they have said nothing yet is a false conclusion.

Just because they can produce the ITS doesn't mean they aren't production capacity locked. If anything it makes MORE sense as to why they are struggling to make more FL5s due to the incoming ITS, not less.

Allocated limited resources to the ITS which is limiting rhe FL5 makes 100% logical sense, unless all of this is again at WILL.

Unrelated to FL5, but I got the ITS call.

Dealership (largest in GTA) is only getting 2 at launch 1 black, and 1 white. I'm taking the white.

Allocations for future periods are unknown. Rep says there is no indication this will be a volume vehicle (or how limited it might be) but there are very few (51) Acura dealers in Canada and they are only getting 2, make your own conclusions.

But should be ironing out the deal once pricing is released (expected may 11).
My local dealer (Lougheed Acura) told me yesterday they are not accepting deposits anymore ("over order") and that it will be a limited production. not sure how accurate.

if I were an Acura dealer I would be pissed… for once they have a product that people are interested in and they won’t have enough car to sell it to everybody that wants one… Honda is so strange these days… they jacked up their prices, sells 30% less car and everything is fine…

Honda is getting ready to do a massive push into EV. They need to retool all of their processes to meet that strategy. Meaning changing equipment, plant layouts etc.

Them not investing 100% full capacity into ONE product, regardless of how much demand there is makes sense. If your 5 year strat plan is to be heavy into EV u need to transition ASAP vs. Dedicating everying into the current gen and pipeline.

They are thinking ahead vs your thought process which is focused on the now. You wouldn't jeopardize your future to sell a few thousand more of a lower profit item right?
EVs have one of the best margins out there in the auto world. FL5/ITS no so much.

Did they indicate to you how many they are getting for Launch? It seems all dealers that ARE getting one or some have been notified, if they don't know it might mean some are getting 0 like the Fl5.

Honda is an engine company… always been… it will be hard for them to be a leader in EV… I understand the need… but they are already late… and why are they the only brand with crazy prices and no EV šŸ˜‚ I’m a huge honda guy because of their engine and race heritage…. But their strategy is not on point… you can buy a supra, a m3, a m2, an elantra N, a nissan Z, a golf R etc… There is wait for these but you should get one… All these are from manufacturer that didnt jacked up as much their prices and they do offer EV options too… Honda strategy is strange … thats my opinion. They shifted from a volume car manufacturer like toyota, VW and Hyundai to a kind of premium branding like mazda is trying but they also have acura ? A drop of 30% in sale for 2022 is not only because of covid shortage… but hey…maybe i’m wrong… probably in fact… but it still doesnt add up in my mind. They practically dont build base civic anymore, they don’t build the cars that people wants … only those with the higher margin

Mine was told the same thing. 2 at launch and colours are white and black. Though I was also told they plan to have more (7-8) in the Fall.

thats quite a few. I am glad its not as limited as CTR, if it is limited production at all.
my sales guy said it is limited... but who knows. 100k production is still limited production.

Probably is, it’s just not going to be the volume of the MDX or RDX. Cars are steadily declining in sales here compared to SUV and the like. Probably one of the reason we got shafted for the FL5.

My dealer wouldn’t say what the they are getting yet although I am sure they know their numbers. I’m 3rd in line so maybe I’m effed again by Honda/Acura unless pricing pushes someone out. GM told me it will be limited product for what that’s worth. If I get screwed like I did with the FL5 I am done with all Honda products for good. Toyota never gave me this headache.

Join me over on the BMW side :)

I'm still deciding what car I want to keep lol. If anything I'm most likely selling the ITS back out.

Ironically enough, I still haven't heard anything about my GRC. #1 at a dealership and have heard fuck all.

This is nuts. I’ve been reaching out to my Acura dealers and they’ve not alluded to limited production, not like I was thinking it’d be abundant. I’ve been told by one they’re getting 10-15 ITS cars in first delivery, whatever June date that is. Another hasn’t disclosed how many but has confirmed no allocation details have been released yet as per their Acura district manager. Lol not like I’m believing anyone until I see a paper with my name on it but still, the amount of inconsistent info is real

I haven't had to deal with dealerships for years, but there's one things I've learned in the process of trying to get an FL5/DE5: Sales people are full of shit and will feed you anything to get you off their back. Some GSM's are the same. You just have to have the patience of a saint and join forums to get any real info. More often than not, we know more than they do. So like many of you, I'll wait till I see a sales agreement with my name on it.
