I have recently installed my radar detector using the Radar Mount RJ11 mirror wire power cord for radar detectors. I had no problem tapping into the dome light clip with the red/red pin and black/black pin. Worked like a charm and install was fairly effortless.
I recently picked up a Dashcam that has a USB-C connection for power. I purchased the Wiring USB kit . The prongs were a bit different (slightly larger). The install went fine but no matter how much I taped / zip tied the connections, there was a power issue turning off and on after clipping the dome section back in.
Wondering, as I do not know much about the power, but could the load be too much for powering both the radar detector and the dash cam?
When I disconnect both and only use 1, it seems to not have a problem....
Also, does anyone know the clip type that is for the dome light where you would tap the black and red? I thought I read it was a 5 Pin Type A or a 7 Pin Type A.
I found this part - Pin to Pin Plug and Play Wondering if I use this for the Radar and maintain the PIN connection for the dashcam, maybe that would work if it can handle it.
