I’ve used Rays dura lug nuts on my S2000 for many years. Went through a few sets because the colors comes off but otherwise, they never came loose on me. I’ve even tracked with them and no loosening. But if you’re going to track, don’t try loosening them right after a session. Need them to cool off or go with steel lug nuts.

you don't want to check lugs after a session, no matter the material. You could stretch the stud :eek:

Rather than ask how to torque aluminum lug nuts, I would ask why anyone would use aluminum nuts at all. You could reduce the vehicle's loaded weight more by skipping one hamburger, and the lugs are so close to the center of wheel rotation that the difference in rotational inertia would be immeasurable.

The thread size was designed by Honda for steel, which is a much stiffer, stronger, and tougher material than aluminum. Why risk using a soft metal? If you really want to forgo steel, titanium would be much safer. But the advantages from it would still be negligible, except for corrosion resistance.

Normally don’t. This was a result of my mishap at Palmer. Friends wanted to help moving parts of the fender liner. But the lug nuts were also over torqued from my last shop visit.

sounds like a nightmare. So was your day over?

I mean with masstuning you coulda prob gone out with 2 lugs per wheel ;) lol

Yeah, day was over because the toe/caster was out of wack. SRS, VSA and some other lights were on. The fender liner was rubbing. Was able to drive home so that was good.
