This could also be part of the reason why they may limit CTR productionā¦they will have more options for consumers (supply chain issues and the push for EVās being the other parts of the puzzle). Just a thought š¤·š»āāļø
Iām going to chill and let all the craziness settle. I just got an MDX Type S for the wife and I picked up an ā03 Silverado SS in great shape as a project truck to play with. Maybe Iāll get a boat to pull behind it and look for a Type R a few years from now. Itās getting out of hand.

Itās definitely a crazy timeā¦but Iām in the same boat as you. Iāve been waiting for this car since it was announced and now watching the clown show ensue, Iām frustrated. Mostly because I donāt want to pay $10-15K extra for it. And thatās what it will take to get the first few that come out...
Oh dang. The guy I spoke with their said he has heard of other dealers talking about $15-20K but they were going to be closer to $10 or so. Interesting š¤. This is all going to be a complete clown show.
I didnāt see any asterisk or fine print š¤·š»āāļø. But when I called, the sales guy I spoke too said something along the line of āAhh I hate when they send those emails outā¦it always causes issuesā and then preceded to tell me the Si and CTR will have a mark up. The CTR being a higher mark up due...
That would be awesome. This guy from Honda mentions cast alloy wheels (around the 2:00 point) in his reviewā¦so I guess time will tell as we get more info
Iām right there with you brother. Iām being told the same thing about being at the top of the listā¦fingers crossed we get some call backs š¤š¼
What color are you hoping for if you get your pick?
If I have any say, I want Boost Blue then CW. Sonic and Red are tied for third. Black will require me...
Yessir.
I got an email the other day from one of the biggest Honda dealers in DFW touting how they āwill notā charge ADMs on any car that leaves their lot.
Me: Oh really š¤
Them: Ohā¦that email, that was for all our cars accept the Type R and Si. Those we are going to charge $5-10K + on.
Me...
Yep. There are dealers out there that donāt do it, but that was pre-Covid. Now even those guys are starting to do it. Unless you have an in with a dealer or work for the company, the regular Joe has to take it in the shorts if you want the car. The ripple effects of that over the last 2-3 years...
Itās just pure profit for the dealer. You get absolutely nothing for that extra money. Itās the stupid tax to get the car basically š
And most dealers force additional accessories on top of that to the tune of $1,000-3,000 dollars. Itās a huge shame but the market allows it and we keep buying...
For a civicā¦itās crazy š¤Æ. Iām not in a huge rush to buy, so Iām hoping to see where the dust settles. If I can get myself on a list and get something next summer timeframe, that wouldnāt hurt my feelings any. I just donāt want to miss the boat completely.
Iāve been waiting for this car to come...
For those of you in the DFW area, seems like the going rate for markups is going to be $10K and above. I canāt get any of the bigger dealers to commit to anything, but they all say itāll be up there. A lot are charging $5K + accessories just on regular civics š.
Nobody will take deposits yet...
