So I learned today...

Every Type R we ever asked for we got except for the first one. Honda gave us the color they wanted to give. That was in 2017.

So I think you can feel good about getting the color you want...
This would be fantastic, just seems like dealers are acting like they will have no choice.

Dealers just need to be transparent.

I tell my customers... Please give me 2-3 color options just in case I can not get your first choice.

However the chips fall then tell the customer this is what it is.

My dealer did the same, asked for my preference order.

I see Sonic gray like colors pretty often on jeeps, bmws, benz, nissans etc.

I personally don't like the color.

I'll take white. blue and red is a toss-up
every company now has their own spin of boost blue and Sonic gray…nothing beats A classic champ white.

I was really hoping silver would’ve been on a ctr again

For those of you in the DFW area, seems like the going rate for markups is going to be $10K and above. I can’t get any of the bigger dealers to commit to anything, but they all say it’ll be up there. A lot are charging $5K + accessories just on regular civics 🙄.

Nobody will take deposits yet either. Good news is I’m on the early side of reaching out so hopefully I’ll get in line to snag one. I don’t want to get bent over too bad, but I know I’ll talk myself into buying one any who cause I'm impatient 😏. My wife doesn’t share my enthusiasm however 😄. Better start delivering some pizzas on the side to cover that mark up 🍕

When you throw in tax, title, fees that will be near $55-$60k

Welp I got some insane news. I was provided a URL to deposit a $1,000 from a Canadian dealership. They claimed the Canada distribution of the R will be a split of allocated units to dealerships and a online lotto like the LE when released in canada.

I also found out ontario Canada will be allocated 270 over THREE YEAR PRODUCTION CYCLE. This is from an GM for a Toronto Ontario dealership. He also claims he has his distribution allocated units already.

To say the least I used the link and was indeed able to put a $1k deposit via Stripe. The link had the dealerships stamp on it. They claimed it goes directly to honda Canada.

I confirmed this was true with 3 other dealership reps.

The kicker here is HONDA CANADA specifically TOLD DEALWRSHIPS to provide tge link to customers looking to make deposits. If your dealerhsip WONT share their unique link they are trying to limit the pool (possibly).

For a civic…it’s crazy 🤯. I’m not in a huge rush to buy, so I’m hoping to see where the dust settles. If I can get myself on a list and get something next summer timeframe, that wouldn’t hurt my feelings any. I just don’t want to miss the boat completely.

I’ve been waiting for this car to come out since they dropped the news on it. The FK8 just never really blew my hair back in the styling department. And this car is gorgeous to me…so I may have to pay to play if I want to get a new one. Especially when I keep seeing all the stuff Canada is dealing with and their potential limited supply. Once we know numbers for the US, that’ll drive my fanboyism for making dumb financial decisions 🥸

I’m still going to look elsewhere and I’m not afraid to travel, so hopefully I can find something that is more palatable. $5K doesn’t make me too upset…$10K is a little steep.

Interesting, I have spoken to several dealers and although I have heard that they will likely offer it with online order like the LE was this the first I have heard of a deposit url to Honda Canada.

Ask them for their unique dealership deposit link. If they don't provide it, they want to control who has access to it. That or theycdidnt set up the payment portal yet. I know 1 dealer I contact didn't set it up yet. 2 did 1 shared with me other one wouldn't give me it and wanted to use them as middle man

I put $1000 down at a local dealership to get the #1 spot. I committed to a markup to secure this deal but I have a feeling that the market is going to be crazy when they actually start showing up. Probably $15-$20K markup all over the place so what I committed to won't be as bad.

Out of curiosity, for USA markups does this include dealer packages like tints that the markup can be rolled into $$ wise. Or is it straight cash out of pocket, no added value in products.

It’s just pure profit for the dealer. You get absolutely nothing for that extra money. It’s the stupid tax to get the car basically 😏

And most dealers force additional accessories on top of that to the tune of $1,000-3,000 dollars. It’s a huge shame but the market allows it and we keep buying it, so what can you do 🤷🏻‍♂️
