Check out post #71 in this thread where I detail some of it. There are a lot of gaps and inefficiencies in the OEM set up. The main killer is the absolutely huge gap between the side of the radiator and the CFRFP support panel, it's around 20mm either side, which if left uncovered is simply...
Successful test session completed.
PB posted on old tyres and not full ethanol.
Data showing ECT never exceeding 90°C/194°F even at full noise on the second run of the main straight, hitting 238kph/147mph at around 500hp.
This is with an OEM radiator mind you.
Hope to prove that the cooling...
Imagine you could launch a vehicle in 1974 and keep it relevant into 2026 without spending a cent in R&D. Sign me up to the shares on that prospect 🤣
I too spent significant time of my career in dealerships, albeit in the after sales side. Dealing with the average consumer made me lose a lot of...
While I understand your sentiment, I am in disagreeance with the entirety of it.
Yes, in a nutshell, all automotive manufacturer's are a for-profit business, they have flagship high volume for-profit vehicle lineups to achieve this. However, their sporting "hotted up" models historically have...
If you were a true Type R fan, why wouldn't you welcome the possibility of a lighter, faster, more focused RR version.
While extremely limited, the Mugen RR was a commercial success. The same can be done with the FL5. I am all for it.
I feel like I built this very car (refer my build thread).
It has a full interior (albiet 2 seater), practical as all hell (I can carry 8 wheels in it), close to 500hp, destroys BMW's, wins trophies, very low maintenance, and drives fantastic on both the street and the track.
Not sure what the...
I am of the opinion that a full harness is only truly safe if used in conjunction with a frontal head restraint (hans or similar), and be tied in with at least a half cage.
If you're just wanting to be better supported while negotiating lateral forces just run a better fitting seat that matches...
Spoon is a Japanese "tuner" brand, and Japanese "tuner" brands traditionally have never taken driver safety very seriously. The Cusco safety 21 cages all fall short of FIA cage standards in terms of tube sizing, thickness, and number of allowable bends.
Just cause it's Japanese doesn't mean it...
10000% not safe to mount shoulder straps to the floor.
Always refer to FIA standards for harness mounting. It specifies recommended strap angles and method of mounting/anchoring.
In my opinion, the FL5's main inherent issue is the OEM ADS damping logic. It ramps the current sent to the shocks far too aggressively to try to control body roll, which then severely affects it's ability to absorb undulations/bumps. The result is the chassis starts skating across the track...
I wouldn't say a requirement per se, but any time you lower the vehicle you should technically try your best to recover the roll center (RC) height to account for the induced body roll from having a lowered RC.
Everything has a cause and effect though, so changing the RC height will affect the...
