7667rpm is nothing, we regularly get there just downshifting a little early entering a slow turn on the circuit. Get the valve clearances checked and adjusted. Send your next 2-3 engine oil changes out for analysis for abnormal wear materials. If all clear, you can sleep easy.

You'll get a P0219 Engine Overspeed Condition code stored if a proper over rev occurs. And that doesn't necessarily mean the engine has sustained actual damage.
