Thanks @KRUzer . I have a feeling that Honda would say to get a new bolt. Reading around, it seems that manufacturers recommend this as the new bolt comes with Loctite already on it. I guess it’s a liability thing…even though it is highly unlikely the bolt will loosen (if it is torqued...
Thank you! @Chilly613
Yeah, I watched a few vids and nobody used Loctite and only 1 guy mentioned that you can use Loctite if you want to. Everyone reused their old bolt too. No one mentioned torque specs ; “Just (re)tighten it as much as possible.”? I’ve never done this before and want to be...
@momo3605 @KRUzer
So, I decided to replace my steering wheel this weekend, but ran into a minor snag and I can’t find a clear answer. Is a new bolt needed? Or just put a little bit of blue Loctite on the old bolt and reuse it?
My guess is that the ECU wasn’t happy with the temporary interruption in power and disconnection of the air bag, but it’s fine now. I’m going to replace my steering wheel hopefully this weekend. Fingers crossed.
Well, of course the body shop won’t simply accept responsibility. It is up to your insurance company to pursue their insurance company.
That your insurance company didn’t help with the rock damaging your oil pan is a bit worrying, though. It depends on your policy and who you are insured with...
Yeah, I think that’s a very reasonable strategy in areas where 91+ is a lot more expensive than 87. What would be interesting is if you could actually see and compare the knock data using 87 vs 87 w/ octane booster vs 91+.
I’m no chemist, but I don’t think you want to mess with ethanol ratios (which already vary to a small degree at every pump). I think maybe adding some octane booster would be OK, though.
You’re right! I got my wires crossed yet again (a seemingly common thing these days ?). It’s BP that’s no longer Top Tier, though they claim their additives exceed Top Tier requirements.
TopTier is a “stamp of approval” for fuel/additive quality. It has nothing to do with octane ratings. I agree, however, that sticking with TopTier is ?. Shell has great gas too, though I don’t think they are TopTier certified. They must feel their reputation precedes such a thing and I’m not one...
91 is recommended. (91+ really)
87 is minimum.
It says so right on the fuel door.
I would only use 87 in a pinch. Sure the car can adjust timing to handle some engine knock, but I personally would not drive the car hard on 87.
It depends on how slow or fast the air leak is.
Any time you adjust tire pressure (assuming you’d let a little air out before tracking) be sure to recalibrate the TPMS. This will help ensure the system works properly.
This exactly. That footwell light can easily pop out of the socket/holder. Look at the passenger side light and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Tension in the wire causes it to rotate and unlock and pop out of the driver’s side holder. There’s not much room to in there to work with, but it...
@Djseto Well, that’s sort of the problem and the source of frustration, right? Finding out the limits can be dangerous and it’s not always consistent/ predictable. Adding to the frustration is that we (you and others included) know that there are better systems out there. I’ve found GM’s tech...
That’s what I hate about it too. It can be a little unpredictable at times. I’ve had it brake on me as I was approaching a bend in the road. It saw that I was approaching a safety rail or something off to the side that “it thought” was directly ahead of me. I’ve had this happen with our MDX too...
Yeah the screen housing is very creaky. You’d have to remove it from the car (which I’ve seen a video of somewhere) then mess with adding damping materials inside.
I’d probably just claim it thru insurance. It could possibly lower the car’s value, but the damage is minor and it would show as such on a report. I’m no expert, but I highly doubt this issue would lower the car’s value by $2500-$3000 (the repair cost). You should be able to recoup at least some...
Haha! Embarrassed myself twice today.
1. The redline shift “beep” works! The problem was indeed me (shifting too early).?
2. In my test, to make sure I induced the “beep,” I found that the rev limiter works too!???
