  1. Fourth to third shift, 75ish MPH

Yep exactly. When the transmission is driving the engine, the rev limiter is no longer able to prevent over-revving.
  2. Vtec87pr FL5 Mugen Boost Blue build page

Yeah…I was looking at the pics and wondering why they are all weirdly subdivided. Some of the divided pics don’t show anything of importance. A couple are closeups of an edge of the cardboard box. There’s a couple of others too : A pic of a door knob and a pic of the wall.
  3. FL5 Emission and Rev-matching System Problem (P0011)

Well, they didn’t know what the codes were for mine either, BUT my car ran fine (though rev limited)…which seems maybe that’s not the same your case. Rough idle, that’s no good! I’m wondering if it’s the fuel pump? Honda has had problems with these over the last few years.
  4. Fourth to third shift, 75ish MPH

    If you actually money shifted, you’d be more like…$***! F***! B**** a**! - Touretto
  5. FL5 Emission and Rev-matching System Problem (P0011)

@Fortheboyz I didn’t experience rough idle, despite the fact 2-3 of my valves were slightly out of spec (from the factory), and caused misfires, which then triggered 2 CELs at completely random times within the first 3k miles. It seems I had a rather unique situation as I haven’t read about...
  6. Weird metal clinking noise from front passenger wheel area

I did some further reading. You’re right! The auto brake hold does maintain the brake as long as the car is stationary (as a convenience and safety feature). I was confusing it with the Hill Start Assist…which is similar, but obviously serves a more specific purpose.
  7. Weird metal clinking noise from front passenger wheel area

Auto brake hold only works when the car senses it is on an incline…or so I thought
  8. A funny thing happened on the way to the bank....

Meanwhile, the old man was probably just driving to Denny’s and wasn’t even trying to engage…but boy…what a theatrical production!
  9. 2025 Civic Type R - No Additions / Changes for 2025

I think, if anything, the tariffs may affect the prices of the normal Civics (among other cars and parts) that are made in Mexico. If that happens, then we can expect dealerships to continue with ADMs on the CTR to keep the pricing structure consistent across the line.
  10. Steering Rack Recall

Yes, it does. It’s not a shortcut. It’s just a more efficient fix versus when the issue was first discovered. For about a month or so, Honda has provided kits to dealerships to fix the issue. I took my car in for an oil change recently and they took care of the recall at the same time.
  11. 2025 Civic Type R - No Additions / Changes for 2025

@JCZ5 There really isn’t much uncertainty about the hybrid push. EV’s…yeah…I don’t see them taking over the world any time soon. Honda is already pushing hybrids across the board. Even Porsche hybridized the most traditional sports car, the 911. Honda’s head engineer has also said that he...
  12. Should I use all season tires in Central Texas during winter?

I kinda doubt you need actual snow tires, though I know TX has had its share of snow/ice the last 2-3 years. If it dips below 40° you should park it OR at least get all season tires that handle light snow and wet conditions well. The stock Michelins will harden and lose traction the further...
  13. FL5 recall (2022-2025 Civic Steering Gearbox Assembly)

Read above. They are not dropping the subframe anymore. They haven’t since the procedure changed back on 10/18.
  14. Aftermarket Dipstick for K20C1?

I tend to agree with you, though this design seems better than the stock orange piece. Still…I wouldn’t pay a $100 for a slight improvement. You’re right about that. A $100 dip stick better fix the damn problem AND make me smile like an insane idiot every time I check my oil level.
  15. Aftermarket Dipstick for K20C1?

Yeah…I don’t get it. Pretty much every car manufacturer has a different dipstick and it can even vary between engines from the same manufacturer. I have 3 Honda vehicles. All 3 have a different dipstick design. The worst of the 3 is easily the one in the Type R. The best might be the good ol...
  16. Aftermarket Dipstick for K20C1?

Looks nice. I assume just the knob is titanium, but the stick itself is stainless steel?
  17. Favorite MTF? - Amsoil, Redine, Motul, Torco, Honda, etc.

Got it. Thank you. I just wanted to be sure my understanding of the oils was, at least, mostly correct.? I agree. If one had to use motor oil in the trans, for some reason, it’d be best to swap it out for proper gear oil ASAP due to the whole different metals + different environment + different...
  18. Favorite MTF? - Amsoil, Redine, Motul, Torco, Honda, etc.

I may easily be wrong, but I think there are other differences, right? The chemical makeup of engine oils and gear oils are surely different, which makes sense. They’re used in very different environments and put up with different stressors. I think you could use motor oil in the trans in a...
  19. Favorite MTF? - Amsoil, Redine, Motul, Torco, Honda, etc.

As long as it is MTF, the correct viscosity, and the correct amount, it should be fine. I don’t see how Honda would have any grounds to void a warranty claim unless incorrect fluid is used. Note : Some products may not be API certified. Could Honda question that in a warranty claim? Yes...
  20. Random Leak/Water Drain from Front Passenger Side

That’s very likely a water drain hose, which routes water from the windshield cowl, down to the ground.
