It's a big upgrade to both, but some people don't like it because it requires more force on the gate direction. It feels crispy and extremely precise. If you can find someone with an acuity shifter (even on an Si), I really recommend to try it out. I have it in both the Si and the R. Everytime I...
Was the FK8 stock? Keep in mind there are many transmission upgrades available for the 10th gen civic. Our Si with the Acuity shifter feels a lot better than the FL5 I tested. Acuity certainly has something in the works for the FL5 and that will be an equally amazing upgrade.
I assume it's because of their regulations. Here's a pic of an fk8 from the UK. You can see the oil level/temp sensor attached to the oil pan.
And here's a JDM FL5. No sensor, just the recess. Just like ours.
Without tuning changes, it shouldn't make any difference really. The air charge limits on the ECU are being hit with both turbos anyway.
There was a recent 4piston post here that was deleted for some reason (you can find it on their blog). It mentioned the top end difference. You need a tune to...
Have you calibrated your ride height sensors after lowering the car? Most FK8 people didn't bother doing it, but our suspension is not that overdampened from factory.
BTW, can you post onboard videos of your track outings? I could bet I'm not the only one that enjoy watching those =)
I'd say the smaller turbo and the fuel system are the main reasons. The good thing is that once you get a K20C4 running, most upgrades from the Type R can be installed. There's this YT video with some details about the differences:
I'm no expert though, but if you are in for a good reading...
I have seen this topic a few times on civicx. The Type R has a bosch ECU, which means you'd need to replace a ton of harnesses to complete this swap. The most promising option seems to be the K20C4 accord 2.0T engine. At least one guy seems to be actively trying this swap.
Supposedly the CDV only delays clutch engagement, so it shouldn't affect the grinding issue. Yeah It's weird the rev match is changing anything. The difference in ratios from 1st to 2nd is the largest there is, so the synchros do need some more time to match shaft speeds. The higher the RPM, the...
I recently purchased a bleeding wrench with a check valve. They are quite common with motorcycle guys, so it got my interest. If the seal works fine, it should be really fast to bleed the brakes. After all, I usually take longer to install the tubing in each bleeding nipple than actually...
That was expected. Same thing happened when fk8 owners learned last year from @s2kdriver80 that we could swap in the LE ADS unit. There are only 600 LE in the US and the ADS unit is not really a part that needs maintenance so stock was very thin. Suddenly a hundred fk8 owners started placing...
That's nice!! You can purchase it from any acura parts website and use a package forwarder service to ship it to you abroad. I have to do it for literally every type R part I need.
I've just found old pictures of the lower ball joints hardrace used to sell for the fk8. They used the holes and pins design. I can't believe they changed their design for cost reasons. Now I'm not exactly comfortable with this choice. They are even missing a pin in these pictures...
Now I feel stupid. Gotta check if my ride height sensor is measuring fine. Very nice instructions indeed. I did pretty much as you described once I realized the whiteline instructions were insufficient. Did you use loctite when reassembling?
I was following these instructions, but didn't open...
Yes, I have read that too, but that probably isn't happening with 42/36 psi. I use 30/60 on my race car, it rotates like a monster (don't do it on a CTR!).
