  1. Official 2023 Civic Type R (FL5) U.S. Specifications Released! 315 hp / 310 lb-ft!

I regret to inform you, you've been ejected from Type R. Please leave all clutches and gearsticks where you found them and say your goodbyes. Bags will be inspected upon leaving.
  2. Type R Record at the Ring?

Yes that's true, however in that case, the start speed compared to the overall lap time is a much smaller percentage - but yes. Either way, what I was really getting at however, was whether the FK8 vs FL5 difference in lap time at Suzuka was just purely down to how well the final corner exit on...
  3. JDM FL5 Civic Type R Owner's Manual; Rev Match OFF+ specified Oil/Fluid capacity

Ouch. Yea it may not always be noticeable as a malfunction or specific 'issue' or anything like that - the potentially noticeable symptoms might be things like less power, because the rings didn't seat correctly for example (doesn't mean this is always the case, just a possibility). Or it may...
  4. JDM FL5 Civic Type R Owner's Manual; Rev Match OFF+ specified Oil/Fluid capacity

? good to hear you have no issues - it's hard to wait that's for sure! That said, there's a good Engineering Explained video around why the break-in period exists (as opposed to the idea that it's not needed) - primarily it's so that any imperfections are ground down smoothly. Also references...
  5. What are you willing to pay for an 11th gen Type R?

The markup was exactly what this comment (and previous comments) were referring to ? Yep - just saying that we pay a bit (or a lot depending on the car) more than US MSRP already, so technically we have a bit of markup baked in, from a consumer side, compared to MSRP.
  6. Type R Record at the Ring?

Well, yes but in this scenario, hypothetically, it could have done the whole lap at the exact same speed, except for the first straight prior to the lap even starting (where it crossed the start line at a higher speed). I think the way you describe it with the laps is correct, I'm just thinking...
  7. Type R Record at the Ring?

Just my thoughts - I personally don't fully understand how they can test / compare the lap time at Suzuka as a rolling start when the starting speed is going to vary. When watching the side by side video, the FK8 starting speed seems lower than the the FL5, which immediately puts it behind...
  8. JDM FL5 Civic Type R Owner's Manual; Rev Match OFF+ specified Oil/Fluid capacity

I'm not sure that's true - I have driven several cars with the feature or similar (such as hill start assist) with standard hand brakes. It doesn't use the same brake as the handbrake to do that (in those cars).
  9. What are you willing to pay for an 11th gen Type R?

True, but gone now are the days of walking in and negotiating a price with a dealer on these 'enthusiast' cars... at least for a while. The thought of even paying 'close' to the retail (RRP / MSRP) for a car was unheard of even a year ago.. The dealers are LOVING it. That said we pay so much...
  10. JDM FL5 Civic Type R Owner's Manual; Rev Match OFF+ specified Oil/Fluid capacity

I would imagine that the safety systems that have a button, such as ESC for example, would reset to 'on' and have to be turned off each time when required.. but hopefully anything from within the menus (such as this rev match setting) would retain the values.. Just an assumption but I think...
  11. USDM 2023 Civic Type R to Feature Glossy Seat Backs

Kids in my Type R? Not the likely scenario.
  12. Official 2023 Civic Type R (FL5) U.S. Specifications Released! 315 hp / 310 lb-ft!

On the Japanese accessories page I see it listed as an option.
  13. Official 2023 Civic Type R (FL5) U.S. Specifications Released! 315 hp / 310 lb-ft!

The fact there is an air cavity around the inlet pipe could mean that it's there to simply provide a heat buffer for the hottest part of the inlet surround... There are easier/better ways to do it, but it also doubles as a nice 'style' feature.... so maybe that's all it is. That said - there's...
  14. Backup plans - what's yours?

Toyota Camry... If I'm giving up on life I might as well go without my dignity as well.
  15. Australian Type R Order/Info Thread

Tbh I'm sure power will be fine - but I would not say no to more ? Assuming Japan has higher availability of over 100RON, so they have the higher output. Whereas for us they want to prevent knock.
  16. Australian Type R Order/Info Thread

Not saying you're wrong, but just curious why you say we have better fuel - the 'RON' rating we have is not the same rating system as the 'Octane' rating they use. For example, from memory, 93 PON/Octane is the same as 98 RON that we use.
  17. Australian Type R Order/Info Thread

Yes you're right I was thinking that 235kw converted to 335hp for some reason. Oh well.
