I am in the same boat as you and have started to do some research. I plan to start with this: https://www.hookedondriving.com/
As long as you sign up with the beginner's group, it should not be a problem at all - everyone has to start somewhere!
The contrasting red seats actually work amazingly well with every color....except RR :p That was actually what ultimately turned me off from RR - just way too much red everywhere. Still a beautiful color though
I used this: https://typerleds.com/10thgencivic/trunk
That same website has a ton of other lighting options as well, but that's the only one I have installed (for now!)
They are very light - probably plastic, maybe a thin sheet of aluminum wrapping it? The color is contrasting yes, but this is pretty much the definition of a mod that is strictly functional and not aesthetic :p
Thanks! I don't think I will do any exterior lights - only interior. I read some mixed reviews about the exterior LEDs - some saying they are super bright. I hate it when I am blinded by other drivers, so try not to do the same to them :)
Before/After installing LEDs in the trunk light.
All photos were taken without flash - the newer bulbs are significantly brighter and give off a nice white light!
I had a really hard time deciding on color. I finally realized that it was because, while many of the CTR colors were "very nice", none of them captured me at first sight. There are some colors where the instant I see them, I immediately know that's the color I want (e.g. Kyalami Green RS3...
Okay I just went and checked:
Collision mitigation will turn back on every time you turn on the car
Lane departure, blind spot monitoring, and rev-match all stay off until you turn them back on yourself
The CTR does not have auto start/stop
So overall not too bad :)
Yes, they are fairly sturdy. I suppose it depends on what you use them for. The items I put in my trunk are pretty light: gym bag, groceries, backpacks, etc. It can definitely handle those with no problem. If you were transporting heavy duty stuff, maybe they could break? But they are decent...
