I always wonder about if I should PPF my car. It’s 7k for a full PPF…at that time I figure I might as well just correct the paint 4-5 years from now for any chips and would be cheaper but I guess the original paint would be messed up. Any comments?
Easiest way to get comfortable with the engagement point: take the car into an empty lot, stop the car, and then lift your foot off the clutch without any gas until the car starts moving, then stop again. This is the best way to get your muscle memory built. Shouldn’t be too bad for you if you...
Well said. As for the new guy learning to drive stick, don’t downshift to first unless you are going from a stop. Once you a proficient, then you can but situational lol.
I don’t know if I agree with this. Would be interesting to see how others feel. Once I have the car in second, I have never had issues driving in a parking lot, going over speed bumps, or any of those. And it doesn’t cause any lugging.
but I would be interested to see what others think on this...
I’m not a mechanics guy so…definitely can’t give you the detailed answer but overall it puts unneeded strain on the transmission and its components. The reason I say it is unneeded is because there isn’t any reason that you can’t go over those speed bumps in second gear. Now…does that mean you...
I’ve been driving stick for also 20 years. I can confidently say there has never been a situation where I have needed to downshift to first once I have gotten the car moving and into 2nd gear or higher. Personally, I ONLY go to first after I have come to a complete stop.
When I first started to learn how to drive stick, I literally would sit in my car with the clutch pressed in and just go through the gears sequentially from 1 to 6 and then 6 to 1 until I had the muscle memory. Didn’t watch any videos or anything just an easy way to get your brain to remember...
Once you get the car moving from 1st gear to 2nd gear, NEVER go back to 1st. First is only to get the car moving from a stop. Even when you are proficient with shifting I don’t recommend ever shifting to first gear while the car is moving.
Outside of me just messing with you, it’ll be fine lol. Just stop that shit lol. Ideally you wanna be gentle during the break in period but don’t over think it. I let my wife and brother learn to drive stick on my FL5. It’ll be fine.
Hmmm I wonder if I have one…hmm I’ll check tomorrow. Doubt it’ll make a difference for me cause I have had it 1 month and already 2500 miles and sold OEM wheels.
Isn’t a build sheet just a sheet that lists the options added? Is there a reason it’s so important for you? Just curious. And damn this is priced nicely especially with PPF considering full PPF is a 6500 dollar cost usually. GLWS!
I did get my car and have the set. I can take pictures and post them here if you are interested. Only miles on them were from the dealership, about 180 miles? Let me know if you are interested. Thanks!
Hmm…maybe I’ll see down the line. I have put 400 miles on it and honestly the ride to me isn’t that bad at all. May also be because I have 265/40/18 tires lol.
