Are those Type R numbers just for North America? Because then 7200-10000 total FL5s and DE5s a year for North America seems like it should be enough to satisfy demand.
@savagegeese did Acura say anything about limiting production or keeping the car scarce? Can we expect better availability than the FL5? Apologies if you already mentioned that somewhere and I missed it.
@savagegeese I know the DE5 seats don't hold a candle to the FL5 seats on track, but how do they compare on track to seats like the Elantra N or GR Corolla seats? Do you slide around a lot?
Awesome video @savagegeese! Was wondering if there's anywhere we could see more of the technical slides from Acura you shared in the video? Also, did Acura tell you whether the ITS actually generates net downforce? How different is it from the FL5 aerodynamically?
I'm surprised they deleted all these random things to save the weight. They could have just taken the rear seats out or done lighter wheels and gotten pretty close, and that way people wouldn't have been so up in arms because either would be easy to do at home.
Good to hear. Honestly liked everything about the Type S over the FL5 until I saw that seats were much less aggressive, but if they'll hold up on track the few times a year I go, it seems like my decision is probably pretty easy.
Super excited to see your DE5 vs FL5 video!
I'm curious since you made multiple videos of the base Integra, do you think the seats on the base Integra are supportive enough for track work/autocross? I know the Type S will have slightly more bolstering but curious as to whether that seems like...
I remember reading about the 2017 record. Honda claimed that they mounted the roll cage in the car with flexible mounts to prevent affecting chassis rigidity, and that they only added the roll cage for safety purposes.
Incredible how the driver just uses a little bit of trailbraking to get the car to rotate into corners. Honda does such a great job dynamically. Hope the Integra Type S preserves this great engineering!
I agree, didn’t expect them to put FL5 seats in it but maybe something along the lines of what I have in my BRZ would have been nice! Its unclear if they are more bolstered, they only claim firmer bolsters but the design looks the same as the base car. We‘ll find out once the media gets their...
Yeah but they just stiffened the bolsters. The actual size of the bolsters looks unchanged (unless those arrows mean they've been extended). I guess I'll have to actually sit in the car to see whether it'll be enough.
Ah I see, I'm really disappointed Acura didn't make these seats even slightly more bolstered (they claim the bolsters are stiffer, but it doesn't seem like they're any bigger). People complained that the base GR Corolla seats just aren't good enough to hold up on track, and I'm worried the Type...
