If you look at the Integra Forums, some people already have deposits at dealers for MSRP, and there's others whose dealers told them 3-4k over MSRP. One Canadian guy found out his dealer is getting 12 Integra Type S's this year, so it seems like Integra production will be a lot less constrained.
6 months in and they’ve sold only about 1000 cars (1200 on the tracker but 200 are sitting at dealerships). Hopefully a bunch of Integra type s’s get cranked out and drive down demand for the fl5.
My dealer told me they had a 5k ADM on the tlx type s when it first came out, because demand was so high and they needed to limit buyers. He said it went back to MSRP pretty quick and that he expects the same pattern with the Integra Type S.
@savagegeese Just watched your new GR Corolla video, which was awesome btw! Was wondering if you have any further insights comparing the GRC and FL5 now that you've had more time to more thoroughly drive both cars?
I wonder if ITS spring rates will be the same? People seemed to have no issues with FK8 ride quality and the FL5 just carried over the spring rates, so maybe Acura could use the same spring rates and just soften the damping closer to the FK8?
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if FL5 + ITS ends up being more than fk8 volume. The reason I say that is Honda knows it underproduced FK8s since they were selling with a markup before markups were common. I also think this makes sense since they’re making way more Fl5s for japan than they did...
I think there’s a couple strategies here. One is Honda has a strong brand as a reliable commuter car manufacturer in the US already, and I doubt the Type R would help sell more of the other Hondas (Honda isn’t trying to move upmarket). Acura on the other hand is trying to build a sporty brand...
I'd argue because the Type S badge has less hype, it's going to be cheaper. Even if MSRP is higher, I don't imagine dealers are going to be able to justify much of a markup if Acura cranks out a lot of them. Integras are sitting on lots and are going for MSRP even in regions where the Type R is...
Wow so they have 20,000 orders in Japan, and they're making 400 a month? So they already have more orders than they can fill in FOUR YEARS. Doesn't bode well for cars being sent to other countries...
Once we get a stream of Integra Type S's hitting the market, maybe Type R prices will finally dip. Acura mentioned how all Acuras sold in the US are built here, so hopefully there will be a lot more Type S supply.
