Just to clarify, the current rumours for Canadian allocations of the FL5 CTR is 546 over 3 years (~183 units/year as you said)
Canadian sales for the FK8 CTR was approx. 400 per year. So FL5 allocations is only approx. 45% of what it was for FK8 (not 20%).
Canadian 2021 CTR LE allocation was...
If I do end up getting one I'll likely winter drive it as well. Will I be bringing it to a touchless car wash just for the underbody rinse every week during the winter? Yeah, probably LOL.
If I wanted a summer only car I'd probably go for a less practical sports car (Miata, Z, etc.)
Can't say for the UK, but in Canada the law revolves around advertised price. New cars constantly have nation wide advertisement campaigns that say "MSRP + taxes & delivery fees". So if a dealership sells it above MSRP it would be considered false advertisement and falls under consumer...
Apparently Canada got approx. 400 FK8s per year.
USA avged about 4800 FK8s per year.
Rumour has it Canada will only get 540 over 3 years so 180 FL5 per year.
Hopefully all that is because of parts supply shortage and it gets sorted out early resulting in higher production numbers but eehhh...
I don't think they're gonna put a whole years worth of Type Rs on one ship... Pretty sure its gonna be a big mix of not just Honda cars but likely other car manufacturer cars too that gets shipped out every 2-3 months.
I'd love to know if the HPD spoiler from the regular hatch has the same mounting points as the FL5 spoiler. I actually quite like the look and you can get it colour matched while keeping the OG CTR spoiler stashed away for resale value haha.
Chances are they wont be the same mounting points...
Called my dealer here in QC today and they got nothing to tell me. Heck I was the one who told them the colours in Canada would only be White, Red and Gray hahaha.
Agreed with the red looking pretty meh on the FL5 although it looked good on the FK8.
I also wasn't a huge fan of Championship white on the FK8 but its really grown on me for the FL5. Maybe the curves just work better than the sharp angles from the old CTR. Still prefer the Gray or Blue as my...
I obviously prefer the look with no front license plate but if I lived somewhere that required one then it would just give me a good excuse to have a clever vanity plate lol.
Thats my thought as well haha. I'm first at a small(ish) dealership in Canada so even if they do get one the first year I'll probably skip it for more down payment saving and also to skip the first year gremlins.
Makes a lot of sense! If you think about it, a fully loaded CRV costs pretty close to what a Type R costs... and I'm willing to bet that a) they can sell a ton more of those b) the profit margins are probably even better than on a Type R and c) the CRV buyers are probably easier to please than...
And yet rumour has it that Canada is only receiving 546 units for all 3 years. So using that same 10 times logic... USA could be looking at 5460 units for all 3 years or approx. 1820 per year. That's significantly less than the FK8. Either way there's no official confirmation from Honda at this...
Honestly I'd say it looks little more like the R33 than R34. But its really just because of the long thin headlights and Honda's have had that look in the past as well (4th gen accord being one of my favorites).
Either way it looks great, can't wait to see it with no more camo.
Yep, unfortunately we're seeing that more and more often. Perfect example is this Toyota 4Runner with the TRD Off-Road option at 541 km on the odometer:
MSRP: $54,970.00
Being sold for: $69,995
