Fair enough, certainly no insult intended.
Not your fault or mine that the release weight and the actual weight listed later by Honda - varied.
I wish my FK8 only weighed 3,064, but pretty sure it doesn't. Somehow - per Honda itself - it gained 53 pounds from the 'release' weight.
Which...
The big news? A slight bump in the fuel tank1 Much needed.
The extra weight looks more like 30 pounds, not 90 as per FK7 post.
My '18 FK8 weighs 3,117 lbs. per Honda. FL5 =1430 Kg = 3,146 pounds. So only 29 pounds more for the FL5 than the FK8.
Compared to the LE, which weighed 3,071...
Great video, thank you for posting it.
Some definite improvements - looks like better information from the gauges, more power, no doubt better cooling, more downforce(?) - even though it doesn't look like it, certainly better dash than my FK8, although I still don't like a screen sticking up...
Thank you, a very thoughtful response.
I don't like big wheels per se - I just like wheel setups that fit the car. I was more than fine with the factory 205/50/15 rear 185/55/15 front setup on my MR2. Never drove it and thought - gee, it needs bigger wheels. But the Championship White Type R...
Even an extra 88 pounds or so on the new Type R will not be welcome. Of course, with more power that extra weight won't hurt. Much.
This: That is about the same weight bump from an LE to a touring FK8.
So if the reports are correct, my FK8 will be like an LE compared to the FL5, weight...
307-310 just seems too lame, so 311-320 seems realistic. More than that would be fine but not likely.
If there was only going to be another five horsepower or so more- why make a thing about it? Just quietly release the
car and talk about the other changes.
The magic of this engine is its...
This is still not final, but doesn't sound promising for the new gen being the same or lighter. Even with more power, more weight would not be welcome. As for all of the new gen being built in Japan, somehow I doubt it. There are strong financial incentives to build elsewhere. I am happy with...
Looks like good news for the new gen CTR if you will now have Individual controls for steering weight, throttle response and suspension, etc.
Still not quite as customizable as the Veloster N, but a step in the right direction. But we get all of our doors, just for starters.
Not a fan...
Depends where you live, if you are or were willing to buy from out of state, and if you are okay buying something you have not had a test drive in, sure, buy a new Type R. Maybe there is no markup or a small one in your town. Not here in the greater Phoenix area.
Where I live, the markups...
I feel for everyone waiting on their 2023. Hope you get your Honda!
I am sure this gen will be a great finale to the ICE Type R's. No doubt after this it will be a hybrid, if not electric. Sigh.
Hope I am wrong.
New car prices now aren't designed for anyone -they are all too high. Sadly used car prices have skyrocketed as well. Glad you are able to drive the dream. Brilliant purchase. I was not that wise at 22. This car is a keeper.
You are not too old. I am in my 60's. Still love it after driving it two years. Lots of smiles and impromptu conversations- with car buffs of all ages,
I had a 2017 SI and loved it...rattles were not an issue, at least for the 52,000 miles I had it.
But the seat, cool as it looked, eventually was so uncomfortable I couldn't sit in it.
So my wife found a special leather cushion designed exactly for this, and that literally saved my ass.
The...
It's not horrible...just...really disappointing. I was excited when I saw the thread title. Then I saw the pictures...
the exhaust does look good. I don't even mind the black spoiler, except it is too small, but it overall is not nearly as appealing as any bone stock 10th gen SI let alone FK8...
