It makes sense since the TLX a spec has comfort, normal and sport mode. I drive 90% in individual mode so it's a non issue in using this module. There was no way to mount it 'properly'. I took the circuit board out of the casing and used the thick, clear mounting tape.
End results, it still sounds ‘fake’ as expected, but it is much improved over the video game sound of the stock FL5 unit. One interesting find was that the amplification only works in Sport mode, or exhaust set to sport in Individual. Phone video capture quality is very poor and it does sound...
Confirmation that the TLX part that I purchased works.
Followed this video for install:
However I did have to pull part the casing and only use the circuit board as it is not a direct fit.
@ThunderPigeon I've confirmed the FL5 does not have a mounting structure, and also the roof liner curves up with little room, hence the measurements would help a ton. If the length works out, I'm willing to give it a go.
@ThunderPigeon Do you still have the stock map light assembly? I just need to know how much longer the sunglass holder assembly extends out in comparison
One weird omission I noticed with the FL5 was the switch for the front map lights to come on with the doors. (Parts are the same price too ?♂️)
Even the very base model Civics and the Si has it. But we only have the switch on the rear dome light.
Fortunately, it's an easy plug and play swap...
This is definitely annoying for FL5 and DE5 owners alike. It wasn't THIS bad with FK8 to my memory.
People saying 'turn up the radio' or 'get an exhaust' just don't get it. Hoping for a solution soon.
I am 99% hopeful that FL5's ads module will work on FK8. I can't see a circumstance where Honda would put in extra work to limit reverse compatibility.
2023 FL5: 39381-T60-G01
2024 Type S DE5: 39381-31M-A03
2017 - 2019 FK8: 39381-TGH-A01
2020 - 2021 FK8 [non-LE] : 39381-TGH-A11
2020 - 2021 LE: 39381-TGH-A21
Pick your poison :) I went with the '17~'19 ADS as that was all that was available for cheap on eBay.
Could not find any fk8 refresh...
I received my used FK8 damper module today that I purchased for $40. Swap was very easy, 4 phillips screws, and the circuit board swaps right over. I plan to do long term testing of going back and forth between stock and the fk8's. Initial impressions are pretty good! Soaks up bumps and potholes...
Really... you can't decide? Is it because the difference is so minimal, or very apparent? Personally I don't see myself not liking the softer tuning for daily
Went back and forth many times with the valve fuse pull. I can safely say hesitation and stuttering is intermittently present setting off in 1st when the valve is always open. Maybe something different is done on the ITS to mitigate this when the valve is always open in sport+ mode. This isn't...
Yes, ITS one would be a direct swap and should work with no issues. The TLX one will have to be pulled apart and then replace the circuit board. It may or may not work from other models but only one way to find out.
Honda could have just gave us something similar to this for fake sound.
One of the better ones Honda Acura has done. I wonder if it can be swapped over
Waiting for J's exhaust to drop myself. Shouldn't be too far off from FK8 70RS exhaust.
We can get a taste of it here, I have time stamped the YT link.
