It would be nice if they actually allocated some production to 6MT Sport Hatchbacks!
That configuration seems to only be available in theory, from what I'm seeing.
For whatever it's worth, my old 1998 Civic hatch, built at Alliston, Ontario, had a similar issue. The car was reliable overall, but the poor sealing did cause the locks to freeze in freezing conditions.
It will be interesting to see how the 11th gen Civic does on build quality vs earlier...
Hmmmm... :hmm:
Do we actually know whether whoever bought it actually paid that entire $10k+ dealer markup?
Maybe it was an opening tactic by the dealer so that buying it for only, say, $5k over MSRP would seem like a screaming deal.
Interesting seeing the MFG/DLR plates from Indiana. The hatch is allocated to the Greensburg, Indiana plant, so this must be an early production sample.
It's funny that they still feel it necessary to put black tape over the badges, the car has already been revealed to the public.
Yes- While I'd like an Si hatch as much as anybody, most of the buzz about it has been in this forum and ones like it, not from Honda officially. Let's hope product planners at Honda are listening, otherwise this could be wishful thinking.
I just noticed that it has Ontario (Canada) license plates, which is the province where the Alliston plant is located.
Maybe it's an early production example from Alliston?
It's interesting to see a Golf parked next to it in the Honda HQ parking lot - Competitive analysis?
All the rest of the cars in those photos are Hondas.
Right, I didn't mean to imply that a 6MT for the Si or CTR would be "news", that's pretty much expected.
What is more newsorthy (if true), would be If they continue to offer it as an option on the hatchback, since there has been doubt whether they'd bother to certify one on a non-Si/Non-CTR model.
While the article doesn't quote any official sources from Honda, it's "likely" the 6MT availability for the 11th gen Civic will carry over from the same models/trims as the 10th gen Civic (Hatch, Si, CTR) ...
That's what I figured.
The 10th-gen sedan has already been CVT-only for a couple of years now, I don't think anybody expected Honda to bring the 6MT back for the 11th-gen sedan.
Right, the hatchback is something like 20-25% of sales in the US market. I recall reading one of the Honda execs saying that they were surprised the hatchback was that popular in the US.
That's why production is being moved to the US (Greensburg, Indiana) after the factory in England that...
I wonder if the high corner on the hood is for pedestrian safety regulations. I know those are big in Europe, and they require crush space between the sheet metal of the hood and the top of the engine. The reasoning is that pedestrians thrown up onto the hood won't be injured by hard contact...
The story I saw (link below) indicated that the CARB filing was for the sedan - They stopped offering the Civic X sedan with a manual a couple of years ago, so I don't think the CARB filing represents a change from the current Civic X configurations...
That's what I'm afraid of too - the regular Sport trim maybe will have the 6MT, but they might stop making that config after a year or two. I'd like to get a CivicXI Hatch with 6MT, but it might require nervously checking the config updates from Honda USA to make sure to get one before they...
I used to have a 1989 Civic hatch like this one. Since then, CUVs and SUVs are the preferrred body style, at least in the US. Given how the Civic has grown in size over the decades, and how it's now a 4-door only car, If you offered this kind of squared-off longroof Civic nowadays American...
