The Type R is a capable car that checks all the boxes for daily duties. Along with bragging rights of owning a limited, new toy, those are the reasons people buy the Type R. It’s definitely not for an investment because there’s better cars to purchase for an investment.
Facts aren’t bait. It’s a fun car but not as mythical as everyone likes to make them. This is probably why there’s so many low mileage FK8s sitting on used lots. I’m also saying this as an owner of 4 Hondas lol.
The fact is lot of people act like this 13.7-14.2 car is a super car when it’s far from it. It’s also not even close to a go kart, maybe a few people need to go drive an Ariel Atom or Lotus Exige before making such a comparison.
The same goes for the FK8. They aren’t fast, but quick. A VW Arteon, A4, Accord 10sp will all pull Type R from a dig without a sweat. Like I said it’s quick.
Stop spreading false information. The only problem a vent to atmosphere BOV causes is the car runs slightly richer between shifts because the ECU thinks there’s more air coming in that was vented out. This is likely why the new HKS kits come with a recirculation tube.
Maybe I’m in the minority but IMO PPF is a waste of money and time.
1. The glue begins to yellow after a few years even on the new, high tier PPF after roughly 3-5 years. That’s my experience.
2. It needs replacing.
3. The paint without PPF will fade differently if the car frequently...
They’re not super pricey, even when purchased at a dealer. The FL5 wheels are $625 per wheel versus $1500 for the FK8 so either way it won’t be expensive.
I would say Championship White is more iconic since it’s a tribute to Honda’s first F1 victory and has been sprayed on every Type R model to exist which isn’t the case with Phoenix Yellow.
