  1. Kazuo_WFC 2025 Civic Type R build

I wonder if there's a market for weird shit like toenail fungus. I'd make a killing if that's the case. I'm not an expert either but I know a bit. The thing about cams is they control the lift and duration of the valves. The eccentric "lobe" on a higher lift/duration camshaft will be taller and...
  2. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

Cross-post from Integraforums. I believe the maps are the same for the DE5 and FL5 but might want to confirm. I do have the "lowered on springs" maps. I have more hard data from autocross to share. TL;DR, Comfort mode far outperforms Sport+ for the OOTB DSC maps on bumpy lots. This was at...
  3. Sudden Power Loss Driving On Freeway

Yeah- I mean, sensors go bad. I do not think your driving has anything to do with it. Hopefully they don't start disassembling too much for no reason, but it's not like there isn't precedent for dealer techs to do that. At least you have a warranty. And 7 years has got to be an extended...
  4. Sudden Power Loss Driving On Freeway

7 years? The only way this holds water if your fuel level is low. There's been numerous anecdotes where the engines go limp and throw codes when driven hard and low on gas. To my knowledge this is generally sustained track conditions though; how "spirited" are you driving?
  5. Annual Type R/Type S Track Event at VIR!!!

Glad to see you guys got a few good laps in at least. The weather the past week or so in the whole eastern part of the US has been terrible.
  6. Sudden Power Loss Driving On Freeway

Bad gas? Any mods? Start with the obvious and work from there. If there are tunes or mods involved that's very likely the culprit, otherwise it might be worth to skip the guesswork and get it in to the dealer for the paper trail at least. TIL the FL5 has a gas cap...
  7. FL5 vs base 718 Cayman

You nailed it. The GTS 4.0 is a magnificent car; the engine sound is intoxicating, and subtle things down to the way the steering wheel feels are notably "special" (ok, maybe not as special as the RS cars...). But I couldn't have put it any better- that sense of "I gotta get out and drive this...
  8. FL5 vs base 718 Cayman

Eh... the GT allocation game is in a league of its own. Porsche has effectively duplicated Rolex's game of intentional scarcity, with the only exception that dealers can and will charge more than MSRP (AFAIK Rolex won't let the dealers actually get away with that for new watches... but I could...
  9. Civic Type R FL5 HRC Concept - New Video

There's the Akrapovic exhaust people swore didn't exist again.
  10. FL5 vs base 718 Cayman

I'm definitely not saying they don't make great enthusiast cars. The 992.2 911T could be argued is the best driver's car available in today's new car market. But the eye-watering MSRP is a pill I can't swallow... and unfortunately it's doing exactly what they want it to, because it's affecting...
  11. FL5 vs base 718 Cayman

The RS cars are next level, cheat code type cars. My dream car is a Spyder RS, even though I've kind of soured on the Porsche brand as a whole... I won't go into full rant mode but the future of Porsche doesn't leave room for base Caymans and Boxsters at $70k or even $80k. They no longer make...
  12. FL5 vs base 718 Cayman

I've owned every generation of Boxster GTS; a manual 981 GTS, and PDK versions of a 2019 with the 2.5T and a 2023 with the 4.0 flat six. And also a 991.2 Carrera S 7MT for the rear-engine reference point. I'm not going to tell you that the FL5/DE5 is a better driver's car, that's ridiculous...
  13. Kazuo_WFC 2025 Civic Type R build

I'm REALLY seeing the photog skills now, and I agree with others' sentiment that this is the best build thread I've come across. I don't usually vibe with build threads unless there's something tactical that I'm considering doing as well- just too much subjectivity to keep me fully engaged...
  14. Need Help with Invidia Q300

I have a q300 but I have a DE5. I like the fitment and the sound, it does drone a bit though but very tolerable. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the tips are single walled, but at the price point that should be the expectation.
  15. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

Yeah... it's important to note that the DSC is just simply a more sophisticated unit. It adjusts dynamically; no need to adjust "on the fly", it adjusts for you dynamically while you're actively driving. Full disclosure; I live near DSC and had them install the unit and use my car as the basis...
  16. Spring rates for coilovers

Those Spoon units look promising. For someone who's 60/40 track/street or above, that might be the way. But I'm still leaning Ohlins R&T. I'm more like 70/30 street/track biased these days, and my car is already getting to the point of being pretty compromised. The Ohlins ship with 6kg/10kg-...
  17. Eibach Pro Kit and/or Sportline Experiences

Weather has not been cooperating, I'm not intending to leave you hanging. My plan is to get out there and get some detailing done today I'll take some pics. And also "all the motorsports" is just one autocross event as I've only had this setup on the car for a couple weeks. Pretty happy with it...
  18. Kazuo_WFC 2025 Civic Type R build

SUPER interested in feedback around the bushings/anti-lift kit. I honestly was not aware there were parts available for the FL5- I know many things carry over from the FK8 but I'm even more skeptical having a DE5... which I realize I'll have to reach out to Powerflex to get their take on DE5...
  19. Rydanz R23 / Shibata / Shiba Tires

Yeah I think these need to be evaluated strictly through a track-focused lens, where life expectancy is measured in seasons (well, except for you California people- every season is track season). I wouldn't buy any 200-ish TW tire for strictly street use. Good to know though. I think I'm...
  20. What Next to Feel More Planted

I still can't really reconcile the "floating feeling". I must have skipped that part. I thought the car was about as perfect as it could get from an OEM setup perspective- and I have the "softer" DE5. But clearly I started adding things to the car so it couldn't have been that "perfect", right...
