I’m getting an odd buzzing sensation that I feel through the pedals and floorboard, at low rpm (2 K-4K) and moderate load. I’ve checked all of the exhaust mounts, and checked for contact with any of the undertray components. I’m beginning to think I have a motor mount going bad. The car has...
As the saying goes, “Can’t fix it if it ain’t broke!”
After seeing this thread title I went back and watched a track video where I was chasing a friend in a CTR around Roebling Road in my GT4. Steady state cornering at 1.2 G on Goodyear SC3R with virtually no body roll. I was impressed enough...
At home is easy, since I have a 2-post lift. At the track I use a spare wheel to rotate cross corners by lifting one corner at a time. It’s tedious, but it works. No need to torque bolts for the intermediate moves.
I’ve actually been considering a C8, but I don’t want to be one of the stereotypical old white haired guys at C&C with a Corvette. So, instead I’m the old white haired guy at the track with a Boost Blue CTR….
I’m wondering if dropping back to 265 might work better on track. I recently noticed that the RE71 (both RS and RZ) in 265 actually has a higher load rating than the 275.
I just sold my GT4 last week. I was having more fun on street and track with my FL5, and now I have a M2CS on the way to keep it company.
I can’t really fault Porsche for raising prices. The retail market has gone crazy for the GT cars, and buyers lucky enough to buy at sticker were flipping...
I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but this is so true. Step 1 was in 1991, Step 3 in 1997, Step 4 in 2003. Now, after 362 days on track, the caged track car is gone but I kept the trailer. I may still tow the car to the track on occasion to save my track rubber, but I'm enjoying the...
I didn't see any laps from Roebling Road here, so I'll add mine from last Friday. I blew turn 5, but still set my PB in this car. Had another good lap going, but ran up behind a slow Lotus not paying attention.
I started a session with over 3/4 tank indicated. Four laps in, I got fuel cutout, so I left the track for fuel at the next opportunity. It was showing 1/4 tank heading to the gas station. Definitely need to keep up with miles or laps driven. The gauge really lags. I get relatively good mpg...
Good point. Three 2-1/2 gallon jugs would get me through half a day, and I can drive out at lunch to refill the car and jugs.
I’m one of the few people it seems that really like Roebling. I’ve been going there for over 40 years and haven’t gotten tired of it yet. This car really does well...
My “home track” is Roebling Road, and there is no on-site fueling available other than 5 gallon cans of race fuel at well over $100. Track crossings are limited so a quick run to the local gas station can cost up to an hour of valuable track time. I burned through two tanks (down to fuel...
I can’t say for sure about the FL5, but most newer cars have a battery monitoring system that uses a sensor to measure current flow into and out of the battery. The sensor is usually located on the negative battery terminal. As long as you connect to ground somewhere other than directly to the...
