Hey everyone!

New to the modification scene and looking to get some good advice/tips! Recently purchased a 23 Civic Sport touring and I'm looking at these 3 parts for a starter build.

1. Hondata (CARB version)
2. PRL 11th Gen Civic 1.5T Short Ram Intake system
3. MagnaFlow Honda Civic Sport Touring Hatchback NEO Series Performance Exhaust System

I live in Upstate NY and dont want to run into big trouble with street legality. I'm looking for a great fun STREET performance build, NOT a RACE focused performance build.

Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks community 😎👍

Those are fine i used to live in Massachusetts and the only things that got problems was dark tints super low cars and if ur car doesnt pass emissions other than that pretty much anything was fine

I have also seen some issues on occasion if a car is too loud - but rarely with Hondas. The irony is that the average motorcycle is way, way louder than even a muscle car, so not really fair to cars.
Also, when under car lighting was more common - used to see a lot of really impressive setups here in the Phoenix area -some areas actually outlawed it as a 'distraction' (?!)
Other than that can't think of any issues. Emissions is the key. Of course, you can easily set (switch) your tune for an emission friendly setting on your Hondata, so should not be a problem.
Have fun and post pics.

I haven't lived in New York in over 20 years, but you should be fine, just double check your local and state laws. Generally, unless you're in California, the only issues you may run into would be sound ordinance, but the Magnaflow isnt super loud. Again, just double check local and state laws, but I feel like it should be all good.

Oh! Wait, does that mean the PRL intake wont pass emissions in NY? Or, that it doesnt work with the Hondata(CARB)?

Products with CARB exemption is more geared towards people in California, it means California Air Resource Board. We have strict rules here about parts that mess with emissions here in California.

So for me, I can use your Hondata, but not your intake as the Hondata is CARB legal. I also said, because I havent lived in NY for over 20 years, I'm not sure whats legal and whats not anymore and you should be fine for the most part, just double check your local and state laws.

Ahh I see. Yea, New York has adopted the California emission standards. So I wouldnt be able to use it. Bummer.

Thank you for the info!

Somehow didnt see that exhaust system was around. I'm on a hatchback touring as well, and most exhaust systems I've seen are sedan..so I figured it was only the 4-pipe remark exhaust avaliable for touring hatchback.

But man that sucks! It be nice if everywhere allowed modding. I know california is strict as F with that stuff. Thankfully here in Michigan the only thing they check is like, extremely minimal. Does the car turn on? Do the signals work? Good to go. No emissions check..explains why I see anything from rusted cars dragging sparks on the ground ( still legal ) to big trucks that make thick black smoke that lingers for 5 minutes ( also still legal )

I know that would bum me out a little. Cuz I jumped in like Woo! Lets mod and swap all this stuff, high-flow CAT and ktuner, foglights/drls that are manually toggled ( apparently its illegal in some states if DRLs stay on with highbeams..wow ) and I'd be like "Oh....F" if I found out I couldn't be streeet legal and be like RIP to me joining the modded community...

Hope you figure something out though! Cuz idk..I got the PRL intake system (enclosed one ) and its soooo much nicer, to me, to hear all the sounds now. turbo spool easily heard, induction super easy to hear even with windows up, you hear that sucking-in & auditable waste-gate dump. Just makes the car super fun to drive vs the stock tuned-to-be-silent nonsense!
