I don't doubt the OP for a second lol

For how good these transmissions feel they sure seem to have their issues. My guess is a small chunk of synchro broke off and jammed between two discs, locking you out. Forcing the shift spun them up and worked it out. Hopefully that's the last you hear of it and it has no further effect.

Well, I have an interesting update. I just got back and decided to try something I thought of... I downshifted without the clutch from 2 to 1 at around 10 mph and it grinded its way in. Now it works perfectly fine altogether... Not a damn clue how that works lol. Still gonna take it to the dealer tomorrow, but I have a feeling they won't do anything if they can't reproduce it.
My buddy’s ‘95 Prelude had a sychro problem with 1st gear. He had to do the exact same thing ; Grind it into 1st down from 2nd every time. At the time, I guess 1st gear sychro problems were somewhat common with the Prelude, so he didn’t have to argue too much to get Honda to fix it.

I’ve never heard of anyone having this issue with their FL5’s, but it doesn’t mean it can’t. My valves were over-tightened from the factory. It set off a random CEL twice before they figured out what was going on. Stuff happens. These cars are built on an assembly line, not slooooowly and meticulously, one by one, to perfection, like Rolls Royces.

This only grinded the one time, so hopefully it doesn't end up like that haha.

And yeah, it is what it is. As long as it doesn't happen again or they take care of it, I can't be mad. I did find a couple examples of FK8 owners having something sorta similar, but I'm too lazy to go find it again

If you were legit you would not be driving it and it would already be in and out of the dealership. All to keep the post title at the top of the page.

It's just one very vocal yet barely literate attention seeker haha. Most people have been pretty nice. Anyway, the car is at the dealer, so I'll update once I get it back. I doubt they'll do anything, but at least I have the complaint on record.

Got the car back. Unfortunately, there's no satisfying conclusion here. They basically said bring it back when it happens again. I can't blame them for not tearing down a transmission that appears to be working on a new car lol. Will update when/if it happens again

@Biscuitpie

Thank you for the update. Glad it's okay for now, and hoping it stays that way.

* Curious on what the dealer would have found or done if the problem was confirmed/duplicated...

Thank you! They said they would have to reach out to Honda for guidance at that point, especially since it's so new
