Some JDM goodness.

We installed a HKS Hi-Power exhaust on our shop FL5. It is a little more aggressive in tone as well as looks with its dual 5" burnt tips compared to the also popular HKS Legamax exhaust.

These have been on backorder for a few months now, and we had two orders in this shipment, one for a customer and one for our own shop FL5. Taking orders now for the next shipment with an ETA about 30-45 days out.

Please feel free to PM us, or email us at [email protected] to reserve a spot in the pre-order.

Here is the exhaust on our website: https://ctechautomotive.com/product...-civic-type-r-fl5-k20c?variant=51152471097658

This! Only reason Im not getting this one.

Do you offer the Blitz?
Unfortunately not at this time.

We offer for exhausts: HKS, AWE, Apexi, Magnaflow, aFe, Invidia, Borla, Greddy, and a few others.

Do you mind sharing any sound clips of the one you’ve installed on your shop car? TIA!
That is installed on our shop car in the pics. Here is a quick 2nd gear pull video from the cabin we got though. Better videos to come

Thanks for sharing!

Is that with the stock downpipe? And would you say you noticed any drone at all?

I am considering this one over the LEGAMAX Sports—which I’d heard may be too quiet for some.

Also curious about drone. I had the Spec-L on my FK8 with stock downpipe and thought it was the perfect balance of better than OEM but not annoying to drive on the highway everyday. Looking at the HKS website, the dB reading for this new Hi-Power is much higher than the Spec-L so I am worried about drone when cruising. I had the AWE Touring before the Spec-L and that was too loud for me

That is with the stock downpipe and front pipe. I wouldn't say there's no/zero drone at highway cruising, but it's not as bad as I expected it to be, either. I think the loudness is in between the AWE Touring (which is interesting considering the Touring has a full 3" front pipe on the set up, and HKS uses stock front pipe) and AWE Track, and the Legamax Sports is quieter than the AWE touring. So this would definitely be louder than the Legamax for sure.

Yes, definitely it is a little louder than the Touring, but not quite as loud as the AWE Track (obviously since that's muffler-less). So depending on your preferences, the Hi-Power may be a bit too loud. In that case, I would suggest the the Legamax in your case.

Which BTW for anyone interested, we do have a few of the HKS Legamax Sports in stock and ready to go.

We're actually quite impressed with the tone, the loudness, and the minimal drone. Plan to add an aftermarket front pipe as well, so that should make it sound a bit throatier too, but just as-is we think it is pretty much perfect for most people

Really appreciate the thoughts and insights here. I currently have the TSP downpipe on, and I almost wonder if that would bring out the Legamax volume more—along with an aftermarket frontpipe. Perhaps I could achieve a solid middle ground with that setup?

I worry the Hi-Power would be ‘on max’ with aftermarket turboback piping, given what you’ve said about it with just the stock dp + fp on.

Oh yeah if you have a TSP downpipe on + looking to get an aftermarket front pipe as well, I think adding all that with the Hi-Power may be a bit loud for most people (and also may introduce more drone). Although, the tone and the throatiness would be really great, just a bit on the loud end.

With that said, DP + Legamax would be a good move. And you can choose to do the front pipe if/when you want more throatiness or bit better flow overall.

Would you say it has more drone than the AWE Touring? I liked the sounds of the AWE but the drone bothered me. I'm assuming the AWE Touring would have a very similar sound between the FK8 and FL5, but maybe its not fair to compare AWE touring on FK8 to HKS Hi-Power on FL5

Yes, I'd say its comparable or just a tad bit more drone-y than the AWE Touring because of the increased dB. Although on the FL5s, the insulation as well as its increased overall exterior length (yeah, barely, around 2-2.5" longer than FK8), does actually help reduce perceived drone a little bit. Not night and day, but its something. A better comparison would be Legamax to Touring in terms of drone levels though, especially if you're personally quite sensitive to it.
