Sold '20 SI after 1 year of ownership - '22 SI worth the leap or will it leave me similarly disappointed?

I've been driving a 19 WRX for three years and it has everything I need from it, no complaints and it has been completely reliable, probably more so than the 11th gen Civic has been. I'm now moving to the 22 WRX , so I will have the 22 WRX and the 22 Honda Civic Si. Very different cars , driving traits, but both of them nail it for me. I test drove a 6 speed manual 22 WRX this week and the clutch and tranny are really slick on it, and launching the AWD hard off the line is pretty wild, though you can't do that all day long, lol. The Civic now feels a bit underpowered compared to the WRX, but they are totally different vehicles, and the Civic Si is still more fun to drive in terms of tossability and overall handling.

That's awesome that you have both the WRX and Si. Please don't think I'm a WRX hater based on my comment about the engine tuning. I've test driven WRXs several times with every intention of buying one, it just wasn't a good fit for me. The last generation WRX just left me cold when it comes to the overall driving experience. The engine tuning and transmission/clutch just didn't seem in sync compared to my past Focus ST and my Si. It sounds like they've addressed a lot of it with the 22. I considered waiting for the 22 but I ended up putting a deposit on the Si based on the reviews.

Yeah I understand what you are saying. I look at the WRX as a nice daily driver / family car. The funky tuning and timing issues of the last gen have been solved on the 22 powertrain. We get their auto tranny - CVT as other family members can drive it. The WRX is a nice balance between power, comfort, roominess, and handling, and the AWD is really good in our winter conditions. The Civic Si is more of my fun car, much more nimble and fun to toss around, there is a difference in power but still fun. The WRX definitely feels heavier, I don't think of either cars as being drag strip racers, and I really like both cars for different reasons.

It's kind of weird when I drive my WRX and Honda owners are chasing me, and when I drive my Civic Si there are WRX/Sti owners doing the same thing. I feel like screaming out the window my other car is a Civic or WRX !

If you want an engine with character these days, what are your options if buying new? Nobody makes a 4 cylinder turbo that sounds good, not even Porsche. So that leaves 6 and 8 cylinder engines, and that's $$$$. If you need 4 doors the list gets even smaller.

I had hopes the GRC would sound good, since some 3 cylinder turbos sound good, but it seems very muted and quiet.
