Hey guys new to the forum and new owner of a fl5 Type r. I want to start modding my car and came across this link to spoon sports for a throttle body upgrade.

https://spoonusa.com/spoon-venturi-big-throttle-body-civic-fd2-2

Anyone else seen this? On spoons website it states that it will fit both the fk8 and Fl5. Curious to see if anyone has tried it.

I have no personal experience to share, sadly, though with the car being turbocharged, there are likely cheaper ways to add power than this.

No worries man, just trying to see how I can add power in the mean time. I think a tune will be a year or two before they crack this ecu.

Drop in air filter & a catless or catted DP should hold you over for now.

I’m assuming the fk8 down pipes fit our fl5s correct? I would definitely go with a catted one. Hopefully 🤞 no check engine light 💡 comes on.

Yes FK8 downpipes are a direct bolt on with no issues. PRL confirmed it

Would be keen to hear your opinion on it.

I don’t think it really adds power but more of an improvement in throttle response as it says on the website.

Is there a noticeable difference without a tune with it?

I don’t think it really adds power, especially not on a stock car.

But I’m keen to know if it makes the throttle response sharper or feel more direct.

I’ve google translated a Japanese site which shares owner’s experiences with parts and have read that they felt improvement in throttle response and although there may not be much gain in power, there’s definitely an improvement in the way the accelerator responds.

I've thought about picking one up for my S2000 merely in the hopes that it improves the (already great) induction noise.
