I was doing a little digging, and I found a Product Cadence screenshot someone took, a while back, which shows the release order for Honda, but with no dates. It shows the HR-V, then CR-V, then Type R, then Pilot.
Well, we know the HR-V and CR-V are basically both out, and based on what I’ve read Honda is claiming the Pilot will be out, by the end of the year…
So…until they say different, we could assume that the Type R will slot between the CR-V and the Pilot, due out by the end of the year…
The CRV isn't out yet. Production seems to start next month or early October.

Chatted with my sales person yesterday. He informed me that it's looking like their store was allocated six type R’s and I am number five on the list. Said it will most likely be around next summer when it shows up. Hurry up and wait.
yea he's full of shit...nobody knows how many they're getting lol. he just told you this so you'd leave him alone until summer 😄

I said “Basically Out”
And if it comes out next month to early October, and the Pilot comes out by years end, and the Type R slots between them…late October early November seems plausible…Everyone’s gotta critique…lmao

I actually have a deposit for the CRV + R. CRV details are supposed to come out relatively soon (pricing, MPG, media drives & reviews etc). The dealership told me Aug/Sept for info, Oct-Dec for delivery. Type R should follow right after.

I’m on the list at the Honda dealer in Boise. I’m 7th in line.
My contact told me the first guy will take his for sure. 3 he’s not sure can/will even get approved. The other 2 he didn’t know, so I could conceivably be anywhere from 2 to 7 to receive. He also told me it could be up to 2 years but that they really don’t know a lot yet. So I guess it is what it is. I’ll just be ready when my name is called.
Have faith brother! I was third on my list and now I’m first!

And I wouldn’t say “staunchly defends”. I just reiterated what little info I’ve pieced together.

I feel like the Z is gonna sell dismally. Hype has already died... one of those cars I could care less about.
That’s the problem with all this slow playing of launching cars that’s going on. I’m sure it’s all supply chain issues at work here but if manufacturers are actively slow playing as a hype tactic it’s going to fail. I was hell bent on getting a Z but have already lost almost all interest in it, especially at that price point. Hondas whole slow playing of releasing power figures and suspension info and such is a tad annoying to say the least. If your going to unveil a car you unveil the whole thing, not little bits hear and there. Also you better be ready to take orders as well imo. If the vehicle isn’t ready for production then don’t unveil it.

With all this waitlist shenanigans, I've really started to seriously assess my "Plan B" in case I don't get a Type R, and I've landed on a two-car solution: Miata (RF or soft top TBD), plus a Rav4 Hybrid. The preference is strongly for the Type R, but I thought I'd share my "this is what I'd do instead" thought. The Miata would be a manual, of course.
RAV4 Hybrids are unicorns were I live. I think I’ve seen maybe two!

Honda habitually likes to milk anything new they make for as long as they can before they actually have to commit to building it and selling it to their anxiously waiting customers. For my girlfriend we secured a new 2023 HR-V EX-L in Nordic Forest around the time the they announced it (April 4) and the started to reach dealers in the southwest by the first week of June. We didn't even know what the fuck Nordic Forest looked like until dealer images on Facebook started to show up. They historically suck at being clear about information.

My educated guess here is they will allow dealers to order in the November/December APEX and then they should show in the US January/February. Anything earlier than that is crack smoke
