Currently have an RV6 catted downpipe off of my FK8 that has been sitting in my closet for a couple weeks. I just got my FL5 jailbroken last week and am considering going with a Phearable Stage 2 tune again but I'm seeing that with stock parts the tune is making around 380HP. Is it even worth upgrading the downpipe at that point? Is there even going to be a significant increase in power? I was thinking of just selling the downpipe and buying an intercooler instead to help with temps.

Thoughts?

don't get too hung up on advertised dyno numbers. for what its worth, i am running Phearable Stage 2 tune with only HVI and Intercooler at the moment, there is noticeable difference pre tune and post tune without a downpipe, however from what I understand there is ALSO a noticeable difference after a retune with the downpipe.

i'd say if you already have the downpipe, just throw it on and buy the tune since Phearable recommends a revision after a downpipe install anyway. i'm installing my RV6 catted downpipe today and just ordered a revision so I suppose I'll report back after install/retune.

somewhat off topic but i will comment that my customer service experience with Phearable has not been great. I ordered a revision with pops and bangs enabled but asked kindly if I could also be sent a file WITHOUT pops and bangs as I wasn't 100% sure I'd want to hear them all the time and wanted to be able to switch back. I was told very sternly no, only one file would be sent and it would have pops and bangs enabled. from my perspective, it would be as simple as clicking a checkbox and exporting another tune file but what do I know.

Oh man sorry to hear that. The first time I bought the tune the customer service was actually surprisingly good.

Yeah please report back once you get that revision. I was reading a thread on reddit and someone had asked him the same question and he had said with the downpipe you'd net somewhere around 5-10 more horsepower vs stage 2 without the downpipe. Not sure how true that is but let me know if you feel a difference.

You can simply go into your Hondata program and ENABLE OR DISABLE pops and bangs.. There's no need for 2 separate files to be sent.

Yea. I thought at least it was a feature you can enable or disable with their tunes.

Just get the tune and ask for John Vega to disable the 02 sensors for the DP.

Then if you want to put it on later, no revision necessary. That’s why I did.

Silly to buy a tune?
Silly to be worrying about getting a revision for something so minor and getting charged for it.

This is stuff I just don’t agree with but to each their own. I advise you to explore your options well.

Ohhh ok. Yeah true my question was more about whether it was actually worth upgrading the downpipe for this specific tune since there doesn’t seem to be a significant power bump with it installed.

Enjoy your car right now. Improve on what needs to be improved on. Are your temps that crazy you need to lower them?
