  1. Sweidit Armrest

@s2kdriver80 Looks really nicely done. I like the steering wheel a lot and have been thinking about getting my wheel done like that (but without the red center stripe). The factory steering wheel should’ve came with the perforated leather grip areas, if you ask me…and a bit tougher leather...
  2. Lugging the turbo?

Yeah I agree with @Jester04 Around ~2k RPM’s you should be coming toward a stop, otherwise downshift to keep RPM’s up and the car moving ahead. I’d say anywhere from 2k-3k RPM’s is a good “comfort zone” to ensure you don’t lug the engine, but still get good fuel economy. A lot of what you’re...
  3. UPDATE! Allocation issues - 23 CW

That’d be great! Hit me up any time.
  4. UPDATE! Allocation issues - 23 CW

@Trilly_Loomis Ugh. That’s unfortunate. I can’t say my experience with Serra was completely devoid of some “cringy” aspects. There was some tone deafness on their part and I felt like I wasn’t speaking English when it came to (the possibility of) trading-in my previous car with them. It’s like...
  5. JSWAN Real Carbon Fiber Center Console

Yeah, for the price of the OEM CF overlay, it really should come pre-applied (direct epoxied) to a new base trim piece with the clips etc. I had sort of the opposite thought as you @getGroyped. Though expensive, I couldn’t jump the mental hurdle of not seeing the OEM matching trim (to match my...
  6. UPDATE! Allocation issues - 23 CW

I think that’s the fear, yeah. Finding out how many miles are on it will tell part of the story. I know the dealership the OP is getting the car from. Same place I got mine. They’re good guys and it’s a small town dealership. Reputation is important to them, so I very highly doubt there’s any...
  7. UPDATE! Allocation issues - 23 CW

Agree with @Clark_Kent Stay calm and logical. These cars have a very long journey on their way to us. Things can get lost in the shuffle and thankfully all those missing things are not a problem to replace. The way the post started, I thought you were going to say they damaged the car or they...
  8. Factory Bose Door Speakers and Amplifier, Options for Upgrade

Yeah, just getting better drivers that are compatible with the factory head unit’s power rating is always a great bang for the buck upgrade. I’m willing to bet the factory Bose drivers are very basic (cheap).
  9. Factory Bose Door Speakers and Amplifier, Options for Upgrade

If I recall correctly, it’s the 2 ohm version of these, right? @Icehawk https://www.cdtaudio.com/coaxials/cl6ex.php
  10. Overland Designs suede wrapped center console is amazing!

Does anyone know if the silver shifter trim plate is technically the same as the one found in the Si (just with a different finish)? I ask because I’ve had thoughts of doing an OEM+ approach as others have done, but I’d like to keep my original parts fully intact. If this is the same part as...
  11. Factory Bose Door Speakers and Amplifier, Options for Upgrade

I think @Icehawk has some experience with very reasonably priced, but MUCH better, speakers to swap out for the stock Blose.
  12. Issues with hill start assist and cruise control after front-end damage

I don’t know anything about it, but your theory makes a lot of sense based on your tests. Cars have so many sensors these days, I would not be surprised if some recalibration is needed after a wreck.
  13. Poor FL5 Owner

I saw a show the other day where a 71 yr old dude drag races his Dodge Demon. He has always owned muscle cars, but his Demon is the best and most expensive he’s ever had. I’m not that old, but the man is clearly wise and has the right idea. Watching that show made me think in a more YOLO way...
  14. Post your FL5 Civic Type R delivery pics! 🙌 📸

I keep kinda eyeballing the OEM forged wheels. Sometimes they look OK, but in this case they look great! This may be the first time I’ve seen BB with the forged wheels too, so that probably accounts for why I’m digging them more here vs other times I’ve seen them (on other car colors).
  15. Damage and other issues with tint install, how would you react?

Damn. That sucks. Here’s how I approach these situations. I simply call the place and let them know there’s a problem. Calling them establishes a sense of urgency. From there, agree to a time you can bring the car back to the shop to show the manager. Go over the car together and point out all...
  16. What did you do to your FL5 today?

@TW00Si Yeah, comfort mode “should” turn it off…but needs testing to be sure. I will test it soon per the method I outlined. I have pretty acute hearing (despite what my wife may think) and the noise box drove me nuts from day one. I could clearly hear engine sounds coming unnaturally from the...
  17. What did you do to your FL5 today?

@TW00Si just set engine sound to comfort mode. This has been pretty much verified to turn the noise box off. I’ve been needing to put my phone by one of the speakers and drive around (I keep forgetting) to see if the mic picks up any sounds, but from the driver’s seat I can’t hear it all (if...
  18. Unwanted attention

@optronix Yeah, that’s probably a factor. The FL5 and DE5 fall into the realm of “attainable dream cars” for many. So to see someone else with it must bring up these childlike behaviors. It’s like a bratty kid seeing another kid enjoying an ice cream cone, then throwing a tantrum because they...
  19. Unwanted attention

The only negative attention I’ve gotten was at a local cars and coffee a few months ago. People show up with everything from their project hoopties to Porsche Manthey Racing GT4’s. I had the only FL5 there. I love seeing all of it, including the crusty stuff. As I was leaving the event (in my...
  20. Cheap Wheels Thread

Yeah, China has become quite competent at manufacturing high quality things. Unfortunately it can be a mixed bag as there are certainly garbage manufacturers too. The really good manufacturers who know what they’re doing often have engineering and QC based out of EU and other countries (in...
