Unless you are trying to race or do time attack in a class that the Si doesn't work well in, I would not hesitate to track one.
There is an 11th gen Si in my area that put down a very respectable time at the local track with just some basic mods. Here is a link for inspiration.
@svvitch it can break the worm gears or electric motor if you did that. You still have to turn the piston to retract it back into the caliper but you have to either remove or retract the electronic bits first.
This is not the best image but kind of shows you whats going on and the things you...
This happened to me and it was the valve cover. Very small leak that collected over time which made it hard to troubleshoot. I think if you inspect the passenger side rear corner of the valve cover you will see oil up there but probably not much and it's hard to get access to. If you have an...
Manual method is the way to go IMO, I've already done it twice. It adds like 2 extra minutes to the job. Not worth getting the scanner just for this unless you need/want it for other things too.
You can buy sheets of exhaust gasket material from Summit. The same thing happened to me except on the downpipe/frontpipe connection. It has held up for about 6 months and some hard track use so it's probably good enough for your use case as well.
I'm not sure if this is exactly what I used...
Sounds like you may have warped your rotors by having uneven pad residue on them. If it is just pad residue it should clean up. If the rotors are actually warped you might need to replace them.
The P3 pads are not track pads. The stock pads are probably better track pads TBH. I thought I could...
OEM rear pads are fine, I am still on my original rear pads after 2 track days and 4 time attack weekends (2 days per event). I am running the R5's up front though.
I drive in +R with long press on traction control.
Could you run these at stock ride height if you wanted or is it not possible? The ride height and preload adjustment are the same on these from what I can tell.
I'd be interested in these if I could run them at or really close to stock ride height. Any more than about 10mm lower and I'd scrape...
I'm using a Sparco tow strap.
I also understand it from a business perspective. But if it was my business I would not be okay with selling something that is compromised, even if it's just a slight annoyance to the users.
Whether selling a newly designed product or a product that can be...
I already purchased the Evasive hook and had the same issue with it. IMO it was lazy of them not to create a new revision for the FL5 that clears the tow hook cover. I suspect other users would share the same concern so Evasive should fix this. Having the whole cover removed looks bad...
I had a similar issue with the OEM heatshield not fitting. I intend to get the TSP hybrid downpipe blanket when it comes out though so I've been running no heatshield for now. I'm sure I could have flexed it to get it to fit but it wasn't worth it to me.
My OEM studs were not a problem so I...
Question for the tuning gurus out there. I have experienced this code 2 times in 4 separate track days. It is simple enough to clear the code with my scanner but it's becoming an inconvenience when my car goes into limp mode on track.
I have the following mods, primarily for reducing EGT's and...
@cxmk did the tune resolve this issue for you?
I just experienced this code at the track today. Ran 3 sessions yesterday and was fine until the second session today.
I am running the TSP downpipe, PRL HVI, and AWE touring exhaust with stock tune.
I cleared the code and ripped it around on...
I am running the EVS tuning offset ball joints at the middle setting (-1 degree) and have the strut pins removed for about -2.6 degrees up front. This helps with outside tire wear but I have only tracked with the stock PS4S so far which IMO has a super soft sidewall. With hot tire pressures of...
The rear brakes on a FWD car don't do much. The car is front heavy so under heavy braking most of the car's weight is going to be on the front axle.
Honda did not use 2 piece rotors or a vented design on the rear to save money since it wasn't necessary from a performance perspective.
Are there...
I do mine at my house.
Definitely going to echo what other's have said as it's always been hit or miss going to firestone for me. Sometimes they'll do custom specs if you talk to them in the garage, other times I had to argue with the manager and tell him that -2 degrees of camber wasn't going...
@TW00Si I think @Rad Ray is just saying the tow solution he had wasn't the best. Not that there aren't a lot of options. There definitely are a lot of good options (unlike the FL5). I haven't had any issues with my Raceseng tow hooks on my S2k. They work great and have been used multiple times.
Yeah I guess if the Ferodo ends up being noisy and that's a hard requirement for you, the P3 might be worth a shot, especially since it's cheaper.
Worst case, you might need to run a cool down lap every few laps.
