  1. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

You are 100% correct in every statement. It is always better to dial everything in toghether. The pedal feel, ride quality, mileage, longevity will all be better doing it that way. OEM´s are not stupid they do it like that for a reason. I contacted a local rep for Hondata yesterday offering...
  2. High Knock & STFT1

I would take the injectors out and check them just for peace of mind. if they are equalized just stop looking at the misfire counter and give her some beating lol.
  3. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

It basically models how the engine transmits heat to oil at a given load and speed and then how the oil dissipates the heat to the cooling system and to the environment based on factors like ambient temperature, vehicle speed, coolant temperature etc. I can dissecate this sometime later but the...
  4. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

That is correct! My usual approach (and also how the car is tuned as stock) is to have throttle torque request tables set with the last column a little higher then the main torque request table. Then once the car is tuned I lower the value on giver gears, for exemple you can limit torque at...

Now to some info you CAN use: I was checking how Hondata managed to do their base tune for the R and ok. I respect them A LOT as a company, and tuned hundreds of cars on S300 and dozens on Flashpros but I´d say their aproach is wrong. And lots of important missing tables. I´m nobody but If at...
  6. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

Since you asked, lets get to some not very useful information lol. A few days back someone sent me a video of misha beating the crap out the green Dream FL5 and it seemed off that oil temperature maxed out at 150C for such a long period and it didn´t go boom boom. So I took some tome to check...
  7. Jester’s FL5 build journal.

How did you like the behavior of the car versus OEM springs?
  8. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

It is. I love that track as it is in my hometown so lots of love for it. We use to race beetles there it´s a lot of fun. 1000´s of laps in the past 15 years. Corrida Copa Fusca GT-OIL 27/02/2021 Fusca #880 piloto VICTOR APPOLINARIO - YouTube watch only if you have nothing else to do lol...
  9. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

About oil temps, I´ve been looking at the oil temp functions for some time now, and I THINK that with a little assembly work I can get it to show data from a sensor, instead of a modeled value. lets see
  10. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

Yes, this car loves timing, even on just a tune, with pump 102 (E25 premium) the car took +6 up top with zero knock. On higher ethanol content should take a little more. To be honest all this new turbo hondas love timing IDK why the stock tune is so conservative. I run surge tanks in every...
  11. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

Yes, I´m sure it will be easy to get to that power level. But on heavily tracked cars I like to keep the system as efficient as possible, hence airflow mods, high ethanol content and work to get there while keeping boost as low as possible. i have a very bad habit of not leaving the track until...
  12. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

At this point I´m waiting for my car, lol, and for a ton of parts. As soon as they arive I will keep the topic updated. I will be testing fueling limits on the MHI turbo, before I update to xdi parts + aem lpfp will do 4P camshafts sometime soon also and FK8td ported manifold at some point...
  13. Hondata FL5 FlashPro released

I do tune cars for a living but I have a lot of love for Hondas so count on me to share every bit of info I can get my hands on. Also if someone need help with a tune, let me know. Just sick of tuning ea888s and DAZAs all day long lol
  14. Hondata FL5 FlashPro released

Our market is really different, not a lot of tuners around, and very complicated to import things. Also no support from Hondata to this point. So for us it is the way to go. But I understand your point.
  15. Hondata FL5 FlashPro released

at this point there are many tools that can read/write the FL5 ecu on a bench. Some can patch it and run a couple tables live. It is a lot cheaper on the long run if you pretend to tune over 5-6 cars.
  16. Hondata FL5 FlashPro released

I dont understand the issue with LSPI, what stop you from making the boost curve more progressive on the low end to avoid this? or even getting the car to enrich earlier

I got the car in Sao Paulo, but I live in Brasilia-DF Goiania should receive a red one tomorrow, not sure if already sold. For as little as 100K USD lol
  18. An in-depth talk about FL5 ECU tuning

Hello guys. It is a blast to come back to discussion boards after so many years "offline" I've been tuning cars now for almost 2 decades, professionally for about 14 years and counting. We are behind many local tuning groups and at this point we've been tuning over 5000 cars every year...
