SCCA track nights send out novices by themselves after 1 paced session. We had a blast, but was surprised they have no instructors ride along, especially with people with 0 track experience.
Is it okay for the caliper nipples to leak a little after changing brake fluid? I noticed some evidence of leakage after tracking the car yesterday. I didn’t think too much since the pedal felt good, and the brake reservoir was at the max line. i believe i torqued front to 10 ft lb and rear...
No longer a track day virgin! Wow, what a blast, I am absolutely hooked! Ready to move to intermediate next time, didn’t have to point anyone by! Can’t believe how well the Type R performs out of the box. Hopefully have some pics and vids in the coming days.
Okay guys, headed to Nashville for my first trackday tomorrow! Changed out the brake fluid, removed the water diverter. Anything else? What PSI should I run. Can’t imagine I’ll notice a performance difference, but if there is a pressure range that helps keep the tires from wearing down super...
So you drive it slow with 87 and low boost…again, makes my point, you bought the wrong car. Just trade it in for something that’s made for 87 that gets good gas mileage, like the new civic hybrid.
Definitely! I’ve seen stock civic SI beat Type Rs on the autox course! Shame!!! Shame!!! lol But in all seriousness, it’s all about having fun and becoming a better driver.
If money is tight and you can’t make a Type R work, you will be happy with the Elantra N. Plus a well driven Elantra N will embarrass a mediocre driver in an FL5, which is priceless!
Buys 45k Type R…I need to save $1 a gallon. Dude if finances are that tight you bought the wrong car. Do what the manufacturer recommends.
I just don’t get some people…And to top of all off you talk about not driving it hard. Honestly sounds like you bought the wrong car.
I definitely considered the EN when shopping for the CTR. As a father of 2 and single income family, it was hard to pass up the value proposition of the EN. Especially as a practical, do everything car that is track capable.
I consider myself very fortunate to be able to have the means to afford the Type R while supporting my family. If I was more financially constrained, the Elantra N would be at the top of my list for an affordable do it all performance car. Luckily, I was able to afford exactly what I wanted...
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the DCT is faster, including around a road course. Hyundai built a hell of a performance bargain! If I could get over the looks I would’ve gotten one.
Sounds like the SR11 is a great pad for the occasional trackday! I’ll definitely give these a go. Are they fine with stock tires or do they over power them at all?
Where’s the best place to buy them?
