That's not what I gather from reading it. He says they do a break in test for 3 hours and after the break in test, there's no measurable difference between if they used a moly lube or not. It doesn't mean the break in is unnecessary.
The question keeps popping up about whether there is something special about the factory fill where it's better to keep it in until MM reads 15% or if it's totally okay to change it out early. There's a lot of opinions but not much definitive information. Honda corporate just gives you the 15%...
2024 FL5 owner in the triangle here. I don't have a ton of time with my 1 year old demanding most of the weekends, but am willing to be an on and off participant as time allows. I went to C&C Morrisville last weekend and met up with another white FL5 owner. In the future I'd like to do a track...
I'm a couple months late, but I'm so annoyed that nobody bothered to make this illustration which puts the whole bumper height "issue" to rest. I just took 5 minutes out of my day for this nonsense.
The bumper height between the FK8 and FL5 is practically the same. The part where the tail...
Where in current literature does Honda recommend keeping the factory oil for as long as possible? I remember that was a thing 10 years ago where they mentioned extra moly in the factory oil, but I don't see that for the 11th gen.
What do you like about the color you got? ... and was it your first choice?
I got BB. It was my #2 choice behind SGP, though it was a distant #2. I am so jealous of all those SGPs out there. That said, seeing the BB in the showroom made my eyes pop out and I've had a bunch of cars with colors...

1) Integrated fender flares look wide and aggressive without being all tacky
2) Fun to drive - excellent seats and powertrain
3) Big fat tires look awesome and those Brembo brakes make me feel like I've got a supercar
4) Utility
5) Interior - audio system sounds great and temp monitors are...
I mean, I had all these questions unanswered when I bought my FL5 and at the end of the day it really came down to - if DI carbon buildup was going to deter me from getting a car, then I might as well get a boring Toyota/Lexus or keep my 9th gen Civic Si or go electric or something. There's not...
To be fair, I don't think these are totally outrageous questions and should be perfectly reasonable things that a consumer ought to know about their product - 1) does the DI cause valve gunk and 2) is there any validity to keeping the factory oil till MM says to change it. I've been wanting to...
The forged wheels would be both a visual and mechanical upgrade in my book. I don't mind the stock black wheels, I think they look pretty nice, but reducing the unsprung weight is a nice elegant method of making legit efficiency gains without touching the powertrain. It's like in audio where to...
I might have seen you late last year driving around North Raleigh, somewhere around the Leesville and 540 area. I saw a white FL5 and screamed at my wife.
My car has 600 miles on it and ever since I've owned it, I've smelled a bit of a burning smell after driving. I thought it would go away after whatever the smell was burned off, but it's still here. Today I finally opened up the hood after reading about people having head gasket leaks and...
This thread got me realizing that the FL5/DE5 have addressed a neglected market segment - car enthusiasts who are parents who want utility and fun at the same time. With a 2 door sports car you have fun but not utility. With an SUV/van you have utility but not fun. There aren't many cars that...
