My recommendations:
1. Only use premium fuel.
2. Avoid tuning.
3. Change coolant as recommended by Honda.
Honda chickened out and no longer says "Premium fuel only". I knew people who bought Lexus instead of Acura because of the premium fuel requirement, so this is why Honda did this. However...
We lowered my son's 1993 Corolla with aftermarket springs. Ride/handling was fine with stock shocks, but raised manhole covers on roads under construction were hard on the exhaust system.
We used adjustable camber bolts and a carpenters level to set camber. Toe was off by over 2 inches. I...
Gated shifters look cool, but they can add friction and clunkiness. I'll take my stock CTR shift feel over a Ferarri 308 gated shifter anyday (though the 308 was still very nice to drive).
"For competition use only"? Are these not DOT approved?
DOT mandates steel belt nylon caps for example, which is a good thing. I've seen recalls on other Chinese tires for not meeting DOT standards.
I understand track tires may not be the best on the street, especially in cold weather.
Probably smaller friction pucks. Pad braking pressure is far more than than spring clips.
I found the OEM pads dusted less after a few thousand miles, perhaps due to bedding in. Black wheels hide most of it anyway.
I've used Akebono pads on a CRV and they are less dusty.
It's always best to put the car in a forward gear before shifting into reverse. Also new clutch disks aren't quite smooth, so you need to fully depress the pedal until it's broken-in.
I've owned manuals for 50 years. After break-in, CTR shifting is excellent and I like the wider H-pattern...
The hub and cooling passages look very rough. The IMSA prototype rotors I've seen are very smooth all over.
Carbon-Carbon is essentially charcoal. In production it takes a lot of infiltration and burn cycles to get it dense enough, and even then you're left with porosity and fragility compared...
It's obvious following cars and trucks without working cats due to exhaust oder. You might get cited in some places.
I have an old, pre-cat motorcycle and the smell is strong, despite 45 mpg.
Amsoil and GM Syncromesh shifted better in very cold weather (until the transmission warmed). I had to double clutch the first couple miles to avoid clashing with Honda MTL.
Honda MTL is quite fine otherwise, especially now living in the southwest.
As an FYI, Honda just spec'd 10W-40 motor oil in the 1980's thru early 1990's for manual transmissions. I used Mobil 1 back then.
Unfortunately one of the Big 3 complained zinc-phosphate was ruining their catalytic converters (from excess oil consumption), so motor oil became very specific...
As an FYI, Autozone sells packages of brake rotor retention screws. I had to drill a couple out after 10 years in New England, and yes I first used an impact driver to no avail. Won't ever be a problem for me again in AZ.
Wash it off and see if it reappears. If there's a pinhole leak in the AC, it may take months to reappear.
I've had excellent luck with Honda's, but one of the few problems was a leaking AC sight glass on an '87 CRX Si. The leak started slow and progressed to where I could feel it leaking after...
The original Insight, Civic, and CRZ all had manual transmissions at one point.
I test drove a lightly used CRZ and it felt slower with less torque than our 2007 Fit Sport.
Generally Chinese made products sold in the USA are produced for a company with quality oversight, so export quality is much better than their domestic products. When I lived there, I couldn't buy quality Chinese made items in country (except arts and crafts).
China has many counterfeit...
I've lived in China. Don't believe the hype that China does better than the west. They're good at making things look great, but are otherwise garbage.
The same can be said for any consumer products made there. If you find a company making real forged, quality alloy wheels in China, there...
I gather they are well regarded, but read the USA formulations are highly refined group 3 oils vs. PAO base stocks used elsewhere in the world. In other words, consistent with Mobil, Castrol, etc. "Fully Synthetic" oils in the USA.
It can take a while for springs to settle, maybe a month
Yes, the right front suspension sees more weight than the left front. This is due to the engine on the right side. Weight of the driver on the left offsets this somewhat.
A friend bought a mid-nineties Civic Coupe (when the engine was...
Use premium fuel and change your oil at least every 5k miles with oil meeting or exceeding owners manual specs.
Low octane fuel and oil blow-by increase pre-ignition risks.
