I said I'd never buy a German car again... but I put a deposit down on a 2023 RS3 for MSRP (already on the lot) which is hard to say no to. I may end up trying to get the Type R or GRC as well.
Yeah, the Fed's number one goal right now is to kill consumer spending and soften the labor market (which is obviously done primarily via raising rates). Maybe that coupled with lenders/banks/investors being less risk adverse will soften the car market enough by the time the Type R is on sale.
I have a decent relationship with a few dealers in the Tri-state area. Most have been relatively transparent with me -- they're going to sell these for as much as they can. None will commit to pricing yet because they want to see what the market will bear.
Personally, I can't envision the...
Thankfully, I have access to a garage in Jersey that's within ~10 minutes of my residence. I likely wouldn't drive it in Manhattan. You have a good point though and I am thinking about moving somewhere more suburban lol.
I'm in the same boat. I'll never buy a German luxury car again.
I like the AMG CLA 45, M3, Golf R and RS3 but none have the same "character" as a Type R tbf. Maybe I'm crazy! Living in NYC, I'm really just looking for something fun that I wouldn't mind taking the occasional road trip in.
I'd bet on the former.
For the record, dealers I've been in contact with are in the top 5 in the country by sales (according to them). They tell me they have no info that I don't already have.
Interesting how he also noted that they weren't focused on peak performance numbers and instead focused on the overall feel of the vehicle as well as the power curve (when asked about how much power the engine produced).
I'm still learning Japanese. But from what I could understand they said "Rev Match" and "Meter". Maybe meter is for the gauge cluster style? They didn't elaborate besides saying that. At they end they basically said: "you can customize this from day one to do what you want".
Edit: never mind...
$50k per year is still a lot to spend on a car in my opinion, but very few people are spending that on a car especially when debt is so cheap relative to inflation (and easy to get for cars). Also, I suspect this car will have tremendously low depreciation.
Personally, I budget my...
Interesting that the back seat is alcantara in the 360 view, but it was fabric at the reveal event.
Edit: looks like there should also be a button to start the engine in the 360 view but I wasn't able to find it. If you type startEngine() in the dev console, it starts the car though.
