Hello community,
I am at my wits end. I’m humbly looking for any guidance or advice. My civic has 42k miles on it. I’ve taken it for every service as soon as it marked it. One morning my fiancé was taking the car to run errands when she heard a clicking sound. Almost as if there was a hole in the exhaust. She let me know and the car performed normal with the sound going away as the car warmed up. Couple hours went by when I recieved a call from her. She was frightened, when she started the car the noise returned only now it was more aggressive, it sounded like a fork stuck in a blender. She tried making her way back home slowly with her emergency lights, but she felt she wouldn’t make it. I went to help her out and see what was going on. She was literally around the corner from our house. As soon as I stepped in and tried getting the car to move it stalled on me and all the lights on the dash came on, prior to this there were no lights on. I towed the car to the dealership. They ran their diagnostic and it came back as an over rev. My fiancé and I have been driving stick shift since our driving career started. We over reved maybe once or twice going from 3 to 2 but I know that’s not enough to make the whole engine and transmission to give out. They’re now trying to charge me over $18k as an over rev voids the warranty. The car’s been sitting at the dealer for almost 3 weeks now. I owe about $26k left on it. Help I’m not sure what to do.
