Android Auto: broken Waze and music

I'm using Android Auto in my 2025 FL5. As many people suggested, I disabled the built-in Navigation app via General Settings > System > Detailed Information > App Manager.

In Android Auto, when I select a destination in Waze, a route appears and navigation begins, but then immediately stops after about 10 seconds. Enabling the built-in navigation seems to fix this, and Waze works normally.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Another problem is that the "start music automatically" toggle in the Android Auto settings seems to be broken. Music will always immediately begin playing when a device is connected to Android Auto, regardless of what the toggle is set to, even if the audio power is OFF at the time of connection. Factory Data Reset and rebooting the head unit didn't fix this.

IMO music start is a setting on the Waze app.

I remember seeing that, but the music app I use isn't one that Waze is "compatible" with. On one of my other cars, music also automatically starts regardless of the setting, but only if the last music source used to was Android Auto. If the last source used was AM, for example, connecting Android Auto won't start the music automatically. I'll have to try this when my Civic comes back.

In my experience, disabling the built-in navigation will cause Waze and Google maps to not function when using Android Auto. You need to leave it on.

I don't think it depends on the application used.
At home, we have two Civics and two I Phone 13s.
In my wife's Civic, the music starts with Waze.
In my Civic, it doesn't because I've managed to set up this function, but I can't remember how.
My wife would like me to do it.
