There’s a group I’m a part of that basically fills containers and ships them over. Not sure exactly what they are doing with the duties (frankly I’m not going to ask), but they handle them, and the containers get sent to designated pick up stations in the US. They unload the trucks let you know your stuff is there and you go pick it up. They can also arrange shipping to your door once it gets to the US.

I sent them the links to the exhaust from Blackhawk and paid them. They order it from Blackhawk and it gets sent to them in Japan. They load it on the container and now I wait for it to get sent over here.

I know it sounds sketchy, but a ton of people use them and have zero issues. It’s legit.
This gets around the tariffs?

It’s my understanding that the fees/duties/etc are included in the shipping costs.

I reached out to BHJ to ask if they could split the shipment for my other order (set of Volk wheels) to avoid having to pay tariffs on the set. Here was their response:

U.S. tariffs are imposed on packages with a value of $800 or greater.

We have received requests from other customers to have their wheels shipped separately, with a 1-2 day interval between shipments, so they can receive their packages on different days.
However, since you paid for combined shipping, we may use a different courier.
There will be no additional shipping cost required.

I thanked them and am glad that there will be no tariff fees on that particular order.

Do you know when they are supposed to ship? I wanna do this but I am weary that something will go wrong or the shipping company will mess up and demand tariff payment anyways, I’ve seen a ton of mixed feedback on Reddit

I thought the $800 de minimis exemption was ended in April by Trump’s new rules.

I ordered a set of the Volk G025 SZ edition (Shining Bronze Metal) this past February. PIC of the wheels:
11th Gen Honda Civic Anyone used Black Hawk for Wheels? 1748908644725-n7

BHJ informed me two days later that my order would take 5 months to manufacture and asked if I would like to proceed. At this point, the wheels should ship within the next month. For every order that I placed through BHJ, all were received prior to or by the stated delivery date.

BHJ is legit...They use different shippers and I have never had a problem with them or any of the carriers that they use for delivery. Higher cost items require delivery signature so if the box is all banged up, you can refuse shipment or dispute if needed. I have never experienced any issues from previous orders even when selecting and using three different carriers.

Reddit is not the same as it use to be...Bot farms are posting too much noise and distracting information.

I can only assume that information has not hit overseas manufacturers and distributors just yet. I just quoted what BHJ sent me via email this morning when I inquired about split shipment. The carrier used at the time of delivery is where the tariff charges (if any) are incurred when ordering from overseas. My less than $800.00 order from England (Dream Automotive) received a few weeks ago had no carrier delivery tariff charge.

for china and hong kong, but that is why I am worried about ordering from Japan. In a worst case scenario, the de minimis could be ended for Japan before the wheels end up shipping and then you get hit with the tariffs

I've used blackhawk pre-tariff nonsense and definitely want to order from them, just worried about the unknown policy changes that could take place and cause the wheels to cost more than they would by ordering from an american distributor. I have been scouring reddit pretty consistently on some of the niche subs where people order figures/car parts/etc from japan and I am pretty sure they are real people with legitimate feedback. Some people have been charged duties/tariffs on orders that are only a couple hundred bucks.

It seems DHL is giving people the worst luck and charging crazy fees when they shouldn't, so ask blackhawk to go with UPS lol

Yeah, not that kind of guy but DHL required extra sausage prior to delivery for the exhaust that I ordered and could not split prior to shipment.

On the bright side, I still saved money overall on my exhaust order. Had I ordered it from a US vendor, the price would have been $3,501.00 for the exhaust and $790.00 for the front pipe (total of $4,291.00 plus 6% sales tax = $4,548.46 assuming free shipping on the two large boxes). I ended up spending $4,082.59 delivered thereby saving $465.87.

$4k for a catback exhaust system is nuts. Fujitsubo was the one that I decided upon so buy once, cry once.

As for my wheel order, I am glad that BHJ split the shipment to avoid additional tariff charges needing to be paid to the carrier prior to delivery.

Good to hear you still came out ahead. Some vendors may also pass along some or all of the roughly $400 tariff fee you paid potentially saving you nearly $1,000 in total.

Agree, $4K for a catback exhaust that adds relatively little power is a lot of bread to part with. Let us know what you think once you get it installed? Stock downpipe?

True...I am planning to install this weekend. I have been researching, purchasing and installing parts incrementally over time focusing from the intake to exhaust side. TSP downpipe has been installed to remain compliant with emissions.

Here is a link to my build thread showing parts currently installed and pending installation. Stock downpipe on your car now or when you posted previously with the same exhaust?

I ordered the Fujitsubo exhaust w/ front pipe as well. Just going a different route for shipping. It should end up being $3k-ish shipped/imported if all goes to plan. I’ll post up how everything worked/went once I receive my order.

Very nice! You have a collection of high quality parts on your car.

Yes, stock downpipe on the video I posted.
