Those of you who have installed the Apexi N1, what did you do to prevent or fix the exhaust flap rattle? I'm gathering info to try to solve it tomorrow.

• I reset the actuator before installing on the Apexi exhaust.

The only way I have gotten the rattle to go away is to pull the active valve fuse so the flap is stuck in the "open" position.

I've been running it this way with no rattle for weeks and today i decided to re-activate it and the rattle is back. What a shame.

Has anyone from Apexi commented on this issue?

Oh great. My Apexi exhaust should be arriving in a week or so. The whole point of getting an exhaust with the valve is so the volume can be controlled when my family is in the car.

I got an email from them with some troubleshooting instructions. Additionally I've reached out to a few owners and I'm getting mixed answers. Some say the only way to get rid of the rattle is to leave the flap open. Others have given me ideas to try.

Will be trying to fix it this coming week.

It is definitely louder than any videos you might have seen on it. But it is not unbearable. The drone sound only happens between 3k and 4k RPM

I was able to solve it. Trying to figure out how to put it in words since I didn't get to record the process. I'll try to in a bit

Thank you. I’m supposed to get the exhaust Friday but won’t get it installed until my downpipe comes in and that’s another 3 weeks out.

Please share here. I’ve yet to experience it but I’m sure I will in due time.

How did you end up solving this. Have the same issue with mine

The key to this process is to ensure that the spring is set in such a way that it creates pressure against the exhaust valve. However, this pressure should not be directed downward; instead, it should be applied so that you need to move the actuator slightly counterclockwise while pressing against the valve to align the bolts properly.

During this process, you might need to "reset" the actuator several times or even more, as it tends to rotate a few degrees each time you reset it.

In the videos I’ve watched, they only reset the actuator once and then proceed with installation without giving proper attention to the fact that there needs to be some spring pressure keeping the valve shut. Make sure to maintain this pressure to ensure a proper installation

Feel free to comment or DM if you have any questions.

TLDR; Reset the actuator a few times until it sits at an angle that allows the spring creates pressure to keep exhaust valve closed.
