Fitment seems off. What’s up with that extra compartment that’s rolling up onto the speaker? If I was to cut it off, the edge would be fairly horizontal which wouldn’t match the other side that has a significant roll that mitigates marring of the trunk.

You have to cut that section off. I used sharp scissors on mine and it was pretty easy. I used the scissors to round that corner up top but forgot to take a new photo.

Ah so it’s supposed to come like that. Guess I’ll just cut it off and sand it down a little bit

Yes. This way they produce a single type of mat and it'll fit both cars with and without a subwoofer.

Yup! Did mine today. Sharp scissors and a steady hand does the trick. Looks like it was never there.

Nice, I’m sure the engineers just decided to waste extra material by adding it to the edge.

That was the reason I was confused. From the website there was no package that would affect trunk space. It seems intentional but it makes no sense. Maybe they plan on releasing a later version w space there? I got no clue.

As mentioned earlier, there are models/versions that don’t have the subwoofer. Here in NZ the type r doesn’t have the Bose system, so there is no sub In boot. The boot space is symmetrical. So there is extra space on the right hand side.

why pay for tooling for two different boot liners, two different packaging etc when you can have one to cover both versions. The extra material cost will be insignificant.

I had dealer-installed seat backs and tray. Are those able to be removed in the future, or are they permanent now?

I have the seat back protectors too. I haven’t checked, but I’m pretty positive they’re just velcro’d on. You should rip yours off and report back. 😄

They're just velcro'd on. Super simple and if you want to make minute corrections, very easily done.
