Cool that they're making it, but with a 1.5T making 40 mpg, I don't see the appeal, unless it puts out like 60 mpg or something. I think the European one is 48 mpg and EPA rating is usually lower.
Here's my usual daily mileage driving the Civic e:Hev.
These are 65 mpg in US units; commuting half in (italian, unruly) city traffic, half on hilly roads up to 55 mph.
On summer months, when the rush hour is not that crazy, I come back home at 69 mpg; worst case scenario, happily going past speed limits on empty roads before daybreak, 50 mpg.
I'd really struggle to get 50 at best, on the same commuting with the 1.5T engine!
Since February, I've driven 9600 miles, with an average fuel consumption of 54 mpg at the pump.
Day-to-day, this car is as frugal as my previous 2020 Civic FK9, the 1.6 turbodiesel, 120 hp, 6MT hatchback sold in EU.
Both performance and refinement of the e:hev powertrain are on a different league than the (very good) little diesel engine, though.
