Does anyone have an idea why this dealer has the engine listed as built in Japan when we know they are made in Ohio? Is it a misprint or is there some that indeed have a Japan made engine? 🤔

Since the FL5 Type R is assembled in Japan, they may have changed it recently to be all Japan instead of having the motor shipped in, but I wouldn’t put it past them to misprint something.

I thought that the 2.0T was built in Japan, with allocations for the Type R staying in Japan and allocations for Type S going to the US.

The dealer isn't responsible for producing the Monroney Sticker. My sticker shows the country of origin for the engine as U.S.A. It's possible the engine is now produced in Japan or perhaps the definition of "Country of Origin" changed. If the motor is in fact now produced in Japan I can see factions forming now. My Type R is a true Japanese creation and yours is not 😂. Either way, interesting find.

Interesting. If it says Japan, then it's Japan. If it says USA, then it's USA.

Thanks for pointing out.

A friend of mine has an FL5 in the early 1000. His engine is from Japan.

Mine is 3249... Built in the Anna plant.

Monroney comes from the manufacturer not the dealer, so you got the rare Japan spec car.

I tried to find a source of the engines also being made in Japan and I couldn’t find anything. Only links to articles of the engine being made in the Ohio plant, and the transmission being made in the Suzuka factory. Anyone have any evidence of it being made in Japan?

The window sticker doesn't have "major sources of foreign parts content: Japan 15%" in the parts content information, which means this car was an early 2023 model year car (also because of the lower MSRP). Referencing other early 2023 model year FL5 window stickers, this is just how they were printed. The engine itself was likely still made in the US
