I can’t say I’ve ever heard of anyone running this spec, a photo may be hard to come by. 9.5” +45 is typically the most conservative aftermarket spec we see on the Type R, many run +35 or so.

Others are running them as they are a good option for autocross where +53 is the lowest offset allowed for stock class. (The link in the original post is to one person with this wheel, so there must be others)

I'm interested in staying as close to the stock +60 offset to keep the zero torque steer Honda engineered. Also, on backroads the wider the car, the narrower the road feels so I wouldn't want +45 because the car would feel even wider (30 mm wider) and the FL5 is already a bit wide for a twisty road. In my mind it's a bit unfortunate that +45 is considered conservative. A 30 mm change in track width is huge.

Maybe I am just not sensitive enough but I am on the ec7 +45 offset and feel zero difference driving, actually car drives much better but that might be due to the 35 sidewall on the tires vs stock. I really did not notice anything difference in torque steer amount and the car does not feel wider at all, just less jarring and looks a hella lot better

it would be pretty much look like the factory spacing as this is within 2mm of factory just .5" lower
Yeah, I like the factory look, so that's great to me, but I'm mostly interested in close to stock offsets because I want factory feel (but with more sidewall). Not to get too silly, but car placement at an apex is supposed to be within about an inch, so the over half an inch of offset on a +45 means I have to take a different line on a mountain road. Of course this only matters when your road is narrow, it won't matter as much for track. Mainly I just don't want a car that already feels wide on the road to feel even wider.

Before I my FK8 was stolen I had 18x9 +53 wheels on it and always wished the offset was closer to stock. I swear I could tell that there was a hint of more torque steer. The factory setup is pretty magic in terms of feel. I loved having more sidewall though.

What? Stock specs are +60. Everything lower is more aggressive, not more conservative?

I think he means as far as aftermarket goes. +45 is the go to aftermarket so "conservative" for aftermarket

Not really conservative by any stretch - it’s just prioritizing stance/flush over maximizing the suspension design.
I guess it’s more conservative than +35…but that’s for a different use case.

For sure I agree with you, I don't think conservative was the right word.
