Engine Rattle Under Boost?

I've been noticing this faint rattling noise around 3k RPMs under heavy throttle input. The weird thing is, I only notice it in Sport mode. Can't replicate it in normal mode. I'm wonder if this is a quirk of the ASC/active sound control system. Has anyone noticed any strange sounds from that?

Should I try 5w-30 instead of 0w-20? Engine runs fine. Normal MPGs, fuel trims, knock control, etc. Burns zero oil.

I don’t notice any rattle under boost but while decelerating, in the 3-4k rpm range, these cars do have a distinct engine vibration/resonance that can cause stuff to rattle. There are some pronounced vibrations while accelerating also that’s due to the unbalanced nature of this engine. Not sure if that is what you are noticing or not

Sounds pretty normal to me, you installed any front pipe downpipe? In my last oil change I added 5w30 liquimoly but i live in south Florida not sure where you live, all depends on the temperature

i know the wastegate jingle but this is different and only on acceleration

Maybe you're hitting the resonance frequency of some loose hardware when at 3k rpm in sport mode? I'd go and see if you can replicate this in a way where you can see what's rattling (maybe hold rpm on jack stands? Not sure if that's possible)

trust me...i've tried. maybe i'm just hearing VTEC or VTC or maybe it's the ASC glitching out. i just wonder if a thicker oil would help.

I had the same thing happening with mine. Around 3-4k rpms and only when coming into boost under throttle. I thought it was the waste gate rattle even though everything I've read says the rattle only happens under deceleration.

It turned out to be the hood scoop. Both of the bolts were loose. Tightened the bolts and the rattle is completely gone.

mine still rattles, so thanks for bumping...lol. my engine appears healthy though, so I kind of stopped worrying about it. might try 5w30 as an experiment.
