I had the same thought, but I'm actually confused as to where and what it belongs to. I have been putting towels, cleaning products and some aerosol sprays into the hatch but nothing with a plastic attachment. At first I thought it was some sort of drainage device. Got me stumped for sure.

Does your trunk area have a ventilation outlet somewhere within the walls of the rear trim ? Most cars have ventilation grills to allow air pressure to escape when you close doors, I wonder if that fell out of your car. I haven't looked to see if there is one in the trunk or hatch area of these cars but most cars have them.
