Brought my car in to get some PPF fixed and it was discovered the bottom left bumper on the piano black trim piece has a defect. Unfortunately, the whole bumper has to come off to replace it. I can't PPF the piece without replacing it because the defect can really be seen when the film is applied.

I can get it covered under warranty, but the Service Manager warned me the fit may not be perfect when it goes back on. He's not saying it will be an issue, but he just knows how picky I am.

So, for those who have removed the bumper, did you have any fitment issues after it went back on? I am hearing it's much easier to take off and on compared to the FK8. I know it's a risk, but it will drive me nuts seeing that defect all the time.

Sounds like the Service Manager might just be laying some CYA in case there's the unlikely issue.

Plenty of people on here have taken their bumpers off to install intercoolers and have not had an issue.

I took my ITS bumper off to install the illuminated badge and no fitment issues after re-install.

My front bumper was removed to install headlights. No issues whatsoever with refitting the bumper. It looks just as it did when I got the car new with 8 miles on it.

I would levelset expectations with the Service Manager that the bumper should look just as it does now when refitted. If he can't agree to that, find a new dealership who will agree to these terms which I believe are reasonable.

Thanks for the info. I trust this service department. I've built a really good relationship with the Service Manager and their top tech, who will be doing the bumper. He just knows I am super anal. I am sure it will be fine and I know if something got messed up, they would make it right.

Would you mind sharing the dealership? I'm in NY and looking to find a reputable dealer for service that I can establish a relationship with.

I see you are in NYC. This dealership is near Albany. Still interested?

Oof, never mind, sorry! Was hoping it was within 1-2 hours of NYC. Tough to find any good service centers downstate.

It would be a little over 2 hours for you, depending on where exactly you are.

Nice, can't beat free lol I wish dealer's would cover what theyre honestly supposed to without a customer jumping through firey hoops like wringling brothers... BUT... I get it...

We got "fellow owners" breaking stuff cause they watched a YouTube video and then wanting it repaired for free or buying poorly made parts and then want warranty repairs after catastrophic damage

Sucks....🤷🏽‍♂️

Is it confirmed that the front bumper has to come off to replace these trim pieces? If the car's on a lift, I'm thinking there might be enough space to get at them from underneath once the skid plate / belly pan are removed, all while keeping the bumper on. I highlighted the trim pieces I mean to make sure we're talking about the same thing
