Japanese Market Info: 2023 Civic Type R Ordering, Production Volume, Deliveries

"Production of the GR Corolla will be fairly limited, as the car is largely hand-built at Toyota's GR factory in Motomachi, Japan. For the 2023 model year, there will be 6500 built, and production won't exceed 8000 units annually in future years."

Its talking about how many they can build, not how many they plan to sell in the US.

But the whole article is in reference to the USDM market. It's ok to be wrong every once in awhile my guy.

Just got a call from the dealer.

The release got pushed back to August 1st due to "limited supply of microchips"
Orders open tomorrow at 15:00 so I will be there an hour early in order to get the order ready to submit right as it opens and see how we go.

This dealer is putting some restrictions on orders. Have to comit to not reselling the car and have to buy their service plan. That is likely just the Honda Cars company rule in this prefecture.

Price is just shy of 5million JPY (google whatever that is in USD because the exchange rates are insane right now)

Power is 330ps
Torque is 42.8 kgf・m peak @2,400 2,600-4,000 RPM

Weight is 1,430kg

Rear track is 1,615mm

Thats about all the info I have today but I should be able to get a snapshot of the rest when I go there tomorrow.

Few things that stood out to me
- individual modes to fully customize all the driving modes
- front fender ducts are real (someone in a stream was saying they are not)
- flywheel is 25% lighter than previous generation making the rev matching system 10% more precise

Also dealer options in Japan will include a bunch of carbon parts.
These are the same kind of parts that eventually make their way into special trims outside of Japan.

Dealer told me on Monday that its being made in Japan. I am checking with him now to confirm that it will be made in the Suzuka factory (the home of Type R's) but he wont be able to confirm anything about the rest of the world.

So you are telling me the 2023 CTR will be cheaper than the FK8? Didn't the 2020 CTR cost well over 5 million yen (approx. $36k USD). Somethings quite not adding up.

It would make sense to be cheaper in JPY due to them being made in Japan now, versus made in the UK with a wonky conversion rate there.

FK8 was between 4.5m and 5.5m JPY.
Manufacture in Japan is a factor but also remember that the yen has depreciated more than 25% in the last 6 months!

5m JPY was 46k USD a year ago. Now it’s 36k….

Yes, I am telling you its 5m JPY.
Not sure if this good enough evidence for you but this is the actual order I placed today.
Google should be good at translating but the first line 車両本体価格 is the price of the car 4,997,300.
