Hey! So I just ordered the MST downpipe and intake. Even though I have the PRL. Just thought I’d try something additional or different. Should be here in a week or so, I’ll keep everyone posted!

Here's a video of the intake on the dyno.

I skimmed the video. It looks like it made an impressive amount of power, but with mild idle and CEL issues due to what they theorized was the larger than stock MAF housing. Unfortunately, I don't think it was done with the updated housing that was shipped out recently.

Tagging @SBX Performance as they have been very active in the community when it comes to troubleshooting this issue and getting the updated parts to buyers.

Hey appreciate the tag 🙏

Quick update on what’s been going on with these:

I’ve been working pretty closely with them while they sort this out. The main issue people were seeing (CEL + weird fuel trims) came down to some of the earlier MAF housings being about ~1mm larger than OEM. Even though trims weren’t dangerously high, it’s not something you’d want to run long-term on a stock tune.

If you’re tuned, the larger MAF housing actually isn’t a problem—in fact it can perform a bit better since your tuner can scale for it properly. But on a stock ECU, that size difference is what was causing the issues.

They’ve since updated the MAF housing to OEM size to fix that. I’m waiting on more dyno data, but from what they’ve shared so far, peak numbers might be a little lower vs the bigger housing—but the gains in low/mid range (where it actually matters) are still solid.

As for the powder coating its a work in progress I am trying to get them to change the material.

  • Some people didn’t like the finish or marks from the coating process
  • A few have sanded the MAF seating area and are testing
  • They’ve confirmed the coating itself still seals fine, but they’re aware and improving QC
At the end of the day, no product is perfect right out of the gate—real-world users always find things that can be improved. The good news is they’ve been listening and making changes pretty quickly.

I’ll keep sharing updates as I get more info 👍

Will MST also be offering a larger MAF housing unit as an option for those that intend to tune after installing their intake?

This is one of the less expensive and seems to be one of the better ones out there. I like that it has a huge cat!
